The 4 in a row

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Who can stop Dublin..

Dublin have already achieved a 3 in a row at a time when the game has never been at such a high level of performance

Who can stop them achieving 4 on the bounce

Another bunch of young lads to be introduced into the O'Byrne cup and league

ROC might be back?

Paddy Small shooting the lights out for Kickhams - this fella is very close to Con

Numerous options from the Dublin U21 AI Champs to introduce, already established young lads blooded in 2017 with success but now carrying the ultimate experience

And more than enough years and game time left in the older lads, look at how brilliantly Gavin handled his squad across 2017

Time to launch a very young and talented Dubs O'Byrne Cup and NFL Div 1 squads and carry the best into the championship panel

With the players coming through I feel very confident of coming very close once again next year and there will be new and exciting options available.

Mayo - still won't have the forwards, Kerry still won't have the defenders and Tyrone are just not a good enough team and especially with Sean gone

If Gavin handles his business with such a high degree of excellence across early 2018 as he did in 2017

The 4 in a row is on. It's very much on indeed.

So jim you start out by asking who can stop Dublin doing the 4 in a row and then you tell us no one can stop them, that ye have enough players to field two teams , so maybe the GAA are the only ones that can stop ye by splitting ye in 2.

I can only speak for my own county and we are 2/3 years off beating this Dublin team.

I can speculate that Mayo could beat ye but not in a final unfortunately.

I can speculate that Tyrone are 2/3 years away from challenging Dublin just like my own county and I can speculate that the rest of the country have no hope of challenging the blue juggernaut for the foreseeable future.

It will be hard to win 4 in a row. Who knows what team may cause an upset in 2018. Some Dublin panellists are in their 30's, will they have the hunger?

Can Dublin and Mayo meet in the final next year? I thought it was Munster v Ulster and Dublin v Connacht semifinals in 2018 or does the super eights change that do you know?

The GAA would badly want to put us all in the picture regarding next summers intercounty fixtures.

Connaught and Leinster champs go into same super 8 group

Winner of group A plays runner up in B and visa versa.

Thanks for that cavanman47 , so there is a massive chance of a Mayo v dubs final again next year.

Dublin have won 4 of their last 5 All-Ireland's by one point. That has to be knowing how to win and killer instinct rather than luck.

A single kick of the ball in at least 3 of their last 5 all Ireland's is not a killer instinct....

I think we should all relax and enjoy the spoils over the winter, remarkable year for the county, All Ireland Club Hurling Title, All Irelands Ladies Football title, All Ireland U 21 title, All Ireland Senior Title (three in a row).

One man will have his eye on 2018, but personally I'm going to revel in this years success until Jan.

Don't think it matters. 5/5 wins in finals is impressive in any way it's looked at. Dublin have beaten very good teams to win those finals. If they had easy finals, comments would have been made that they had no real competition.

On the post itself, can't see 4 in a row being a given. No one knows what'll happen over the months ahead, Tyrone could, like Donegal did, learn from where they fell short this year and improve where needed. Mayo are Mayo and will be back. Kerry will play it down but can potentially be a very good team. Then there is room for another of the improving teams to make a step up in 2018. Looknig forward to it,

Yep, very possible they win their provinces, finish 1st and 2nd in their super 8 group and win their semi finals.

An interesting point to note. .the super 8s make it possible to lose 3 games and still win Sam. Mayo could have an even crazier run than they had this year!

Ya it looks like any teams knocked out in a provincial quarterfinal or semifinal will have to play a lot of games to win the Sam maguire.

4 in a row
5 in a row
6 in a row!
So what! What does that prove about any team? Each All Ireland medal is the same. Three in a row is enough for any team in my opinion. It takes a very good team to win an All Ireland, a great team to win two and an exceptional team to win three. After that it's not sport, it's all about showmanship, pride, arrogance, breaking records and breaking opponents etc. To me that's not sport or sporting behaviour. It means that one particular team or county is denying others any chance of winning 'just once' and is crushing their dreams. After winning three in a row that team should be obliged to take a break for at least a year! Enjoy life, get to know their partners and help other teams not as fortunate. I know this won't happen in a western world where all the kudos go to those on top of the dung heap!

Don't know about that.

A lot big players in the last 2 finals that have stood up when the games were there to be won are under 30. Costello, Mannion, O'Callaghan, Small, McCarthy, Fenton, McCaffrey.

I think the squad is well balanced between younger and older players at the moment.

Doubt if hunger is the issue , more form and ability to perform at the highest level , I'm not going to name names but there are certain signs that key players are past their peak no doubt and while we got over the line another 12 months in those legs may not be possible.
While they may not perform they are crucial around the team ,training ground and dressing room.
On a plus side the younger brigade will also have another 12 months of experience,
There is a transition happening before our eyes and while that happens you are always vulnerable.
