Kieran Kingston manager of year?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Regardless what happens tomorrow KK has done a super job against the odds. 14/1 to win munster in may now 70 minutes from All Ireland final does Kingston deserve to be manager of the year?

Deserves it if Cork go all the way considering where they were this time last year. Other managers like Donoghue deserve a mention especially if he leads Galway to a treble of League, Provencial and All-Ireland success, Fitzmaurice and Kerry going for the same.

Yes, I think Cork would have to take Liam before you could justify that.

If Galway win the AI after 29 years, you would have to give it to Michael Donoghue, esp considering the talented teams Galway have had right through the intervening period and their failure to land the big prize. Ditto of course Derek McGrath!

If against the odds Mayo can finally do it in the football, than Stephen Rochford would be proclaimed manager of the 21st century and rightly so!

Why would he be proclaimed manager of the century? It's not as if he is managing a bunch of nobodies.

A few names in the hat still. No,I wouldn't be crowning anyone just yet. Undoubtedly,Kingston will be a contender if Cork can reach the promised land but so too would Donoghue and McGrath in hurling and Rochford and Harte in Football providing they win Sam.
Ps. Gavin will have as big a shout as any of the previous mentioned if Dubs do the 3 in a row.

How the mighty have fallen.

A Cork man (?) coming on here suggesting they get manager of the year because they won a Munster and got to the All-Ireland semis?

I hope and think this is not the general feeling among Cork people.

Wait until September before making a decision.

I think considering the psychological barrier that they would have to break thru at this stage it would have to be acknowledged as some achievement.

Getting Cork to an AI semi final is not a manager of the year worthy level of performance.

Total class from a true gentleman. So soon after a defeat as disappointing as that to take time to remember Keady and his family was an incredible gesture. Cork hurling should be thrilled to have a man like that at the top.

O'Donoughue or McGrath will be manager of the year.

The same Kingston was very poor last year. I'd give him the most improved manager of the year award instead.

He has done an excellent job this year and will do in the future too imho. Cork are building again which is great to see. I thought the sending off was the big difference today. Looking forward Cork are in a good place especially with the management they have in place who obviously have learned alot from last year which is a very positive sign. Now Kingston cannot be considered manager of the year but he will be commended for the big improvement shown.

Must say I have great respect for Kieran Kingston, the way he spoke and expressed his condolences to Tony Keady's widow and children, just after losing an All Ireland Semi-Final. It was class.
