Kerry v Cork

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Sunday afternoon sees the old rivalry down south renewed when Kerry take on Cork in the 2017 Munster SFC final. The Kingdom are firm favourites for their 79th provincial crown but can their neighbours cause a shock in Killarney?

This thread will be used to discuss the game at Fitzgerald Stadium.

No.

Kerry will win by as much as they want to. If they're in the mood they'll put 15 points on Cork.

Look , there's not a snowballs hope in hell of cork getting within 6 points of Kerry. Looking at what they've produced so far they could play 20 men and still couldn't score enough. Woeful shooting on last two outings that would be far more costly against better opposition.
It's the back door for cork for me and they will be gone soon as they meet a decent side.
Hurlers maybe , footballers, no.

Kerry v Cork in a Munster final in Killarney - one of the really great days of the GAA summer!!

Doesn't look like the weather will be up to much but hopefully the game will.

I'm expecting Cork to have a go and put some pride back in their jersey but hopefully Kerry can ride it out and come out on the right side. This game always reveals a lot about where Kerry are in the race for Sam.

Kerry team announced on Friday and it should be close to what Fitzy is thinking his best 15 are so I'll await it with interest.

Hon D Kingdom!!!

Kerry pulling up 10 minutes before half time. Cork to rally for start of 2nd half. Kerry to up it again and keep at least 6 between them. They should win by 9 anyway. Their championship begins in middle of August v Galway most likely.

I think we'll beat Cork but not by much.

After what Down did to Monaghan it's a fool game writing off the underdog - but in this case I will totally astonished if Kerry lose this!

Cork only beat Waterford by a point and only scored a point in the first half against Tipp. I'd say Kerry will scrape through.

If Kerry don't win this by at least 31 points you'd wonder about them like

Judging by the handicap odds, Kerry will win by 6+ points. (I never watch matches, I just look at the odds and imagine the games in my head.)

In the last half of football Cork played they totally dominated an All Ireland semi finalist from last years championship.
Cork will give Kerry a very good game, much more of a challenge than Dublin will get Lenister.

Well if the senior game is anything like the junior final tonight, we will have a game for the ages!

And for those not giving the Cork seniors a hope, the Cork juniors took Kerry (who were heavy, heavy favorites for the All-Ireland let alone the Munster final) to extra time.

One of the worst games I have ever watched, including all the puke of the last decade. You could judge nothing from it except a marginally less worse team than the other won

That will probably be annoying to read for a Cork football fan. They will give Kerry a game on Sunday, I believe but they will probably wilt in the following game. Why can't Cork operate at the same level with other teams? It will be only passion that will get Cork near the finish line on Sunday. They are in disarray, I had hoped they would wake up when they were relegated but an indifferent league campaign and a sub par campaign thus far by their standards proves otherwise. Kerrigan, O'Connor and Loughrey are the keys to any cork success this year. This is probably for selfish reasons but Kerry needs a good Cork team as a great Cork team pushes our own lads.

We all know the script for Sunday. It happens every Munster Championship game between Cork and Kerry in Killarney. Kerry will blow Cork out the gate in the first half taking a 7-8 point lead. Beginning of the second Kerry tag along 1-2 more points. Cork then begin a mini comeback and bring the game with touching distance only for Kerry to then up a gear and tag along another 4-5 pionts for a comfortable win.

Going to the game on Sunday with little hope but stranger things have happened and that's the only thing hanging on to

I can't believe how far back Cork have gone, hopefully they can put up a good show on Sunday but I think Kerry will win it handy enough when all is said and done.
It would be great to see Cork back at the top again, the way Down look like they are heading, good for the game to have more teams challenging for Sam.
