Hurling draw ??? Problems

With three teams drawn first directly from Leinster bowl, what chance had Munster teams of a home draw.

We got the draw we wanted though.

This is it, now we find out if we are good enough or if surgery is needed prior to next year.

I think there was a third bowl to decide the fixture

Think both teams drawn went into bowl 3 and then drawn for home advantage.

I understand there was a separate bowl to determine who played home or away, the fact that the Leinster teams were being drawn out first had no bearing on who'd be playing at home. For example, Tipp are at home to Westmeath.

See you in Nowlan Park!

ballydalane

will this be all ticket? What is the capacity in Nowlan Park?

Delighted with the draw to be honest. Regardless of where each team stands, always love to see the Green & White facing the Black & Amber.

Correct and been a Tipp man I hope we give up home advantage and travel to Westmeath. They have made so much progress over the last few years least they deserve is the All-Ireland champions in their own back yard. It would bring out the fans from both counties.

We had no evidence of this draw , at least not via radio broadcast. Typical cock up.

As least as stated above this did not seem to be done openly. How can this be seen to be above board?

It's all visible on the morning Ireland webcast. I watched it. There is a third bowl.

Thanks Ballydalane. If an open and above board draw sends to Nowlan Park that is fine. We beat KK in a League Semi Final in 1997 and the KK manager immediately stepped down. We will as always be there 'in sunshine or in sorrow'.

But was the draw from the third bowl made publicly?

Yes, it will definitely be all-ticket. Capacity for Nowlan Park is circa 25,000 so anyone who wants a ticket should be able to get one. No disrespect to Limerick, but it's a good draw for Kilkenny. Firstly it's at home, and secondly we avoided Tipp who'd almost certainly beat us handily on current form, and Waterford which would be a dogfight.

Limerick should smell blood here, black and amber blood. Normally it is cats that smell blood but this really is a great chance for Limerick. If they can up the intensity they can beat Kilkenny, but I think home advantage will just decide this one.
Unfortunately, after all the hype of the draw, the major clashes never materialised.

Not really, it was on RTE News Now channel, and you could see the draw being done. Looked all above board to me

Victories there are rare ....... offhand I remember the following:

1997 NHL won 3-8 to 2-10
1997 NHL play off game won 1-17 to 0-10 (Nicky Brennan was the Kilkenny manager)
1985 NHL won 5-8 to 1-18. Tommy Quaid (RIP) played corner forward for Limerick and was marked by Dick O'Hara the beast of a man.

While Munster championship games are exciting encounters there is that something different about playing Kilkenny. We always seem to give Kilkenny plenty of it and during Cody's reign there have been a few encounters where timber wasn't spared. The 2002 NHL Semi when they won in Limerick 2-14 to 0-15, the All-Ireland quarter final where they edged past us 0-18 to 0-13 and that game allowed Galway to plot their destruction, the NHL final of 2006 where they were adapting their game and about to conquer hurling over the next 7-8 years when they beat us 3-11 to 0-14, the 2007 All-Ireland final where their experience told on us in the first ten minutes, the 2012 quarter final in Thurles where Wayne McNamara buckled Richie Power and Kilkenny brought on TJ Reid who wreaked havoc and then that Epic encounter in Croker in the 2014 semi final when I thought we had them but you don't have Kilkenny beaten until it's shown on the Sunday Game, Kilkenny 2-13 Limerick 0-17.

They are a savage hurling county and I hope we hop off them at the weekend.

At least for another week at least!!

Potentially no disrespect to any county not listed but you'd have to say Tipp , Waterford , KK and Dublin in the bowl for Round 2 and from what I know its an Open draw.
