A new stadium in Connacht?

Replying To GreenandRed:  "You make a lot of childish assumptions about Mayo people again simply because they don't agree with their opinion. I don't know everyone from Mayo but none I know were less than delighted when ye won football or hurling All Irelands, since the 80s anyway. You have no clue about money. There's no need for a Connacht GAA stadium. Once again I ask you what is the need for a new Connacht GAA stadium when there are five county grounds."
Action speak louder then words. Why did mayo vote against galway in the tony keady affair if mayo are delighted to see galway win all irelands?? Why were the mayo footballers caught on video celebrating in a pub in ballindine after galway lost the hurling all ireland?

Can you produce that video please? Never heard of it. There will always be people who don't want their rivals doing well...I've heard plenty of examples of Galway pubs celebrating mayo losses.

My local had a Galway flag flying before the last 2 hurling finals...

Replying To moc.dna:  "The original cost of the redevelopment in 2002 was €12 Million, also a lot of the work on some of the terraces at the time was done by a very good FAS scheme which saved a lot of money. The figures for the recent works on the pitch itself vary. What age are you, this is my last post on this as there is no point in debating with someone who doesn't have any grasp of economics, your going on about building new stadiums as if there is no problem with the millions needed & that it will all be covered by the sale of Pearse Stadium. Miraculously you are going to recover the €12 Million plus spent since the reopening in 2003, plus make enough to build a new stadium somewhere else, I think your wasting your time on here, Shane Ross should have you in as a special advisor in the Dept of Sport."
If you dont feel like you have any grasp of economics i understand if this is your last post on the subject. I agree Pearse stadium would easily sell for over 12 million and given galway are just over one million in debt there is a large profit to be made. Yes Shane Ross and the department of sport are given out large government funding. Sporting organisations like connacht rugby who will benifit from the funding are spending over 30 million on a stadium next year. No reason why munster GAA got a new stadium in Cork and connacht dont deserve one.

Connacht cant fill what they have. It's silly to compare Connacht to Munster.

I did its clear mayo dont support the galway hurlers. Why did mayo vote against galway in the tony keady affair if mayo are delighted to see galway win all irelands?? Why were the mayo footballers caught on video celebrating in a pub in ballindine after galway lost the hurling all ireland? Its hard for connacht teams trying to improve facilities when mayo object to anything outside of mayo. begrudging at its best
