They're split on the benefits of wearing facemasks so it's no surprise there's conflicting stories on what and who is safe and who isn't. If someone wears a mask it surely also protects the wearer to some degree, like someone spray painting doesn't wear a mask to filter the paint from them coughing on it surely? No matter how small the protection, every little helps and anyone not tested could still have COVID and it surely minimises them spreading it. So I'll wear a mask outside the house but won't let our little girls past the front door until something more definite is announced. It's you that is making the claims, not me. Unlike you, I have never said anything for certain about this virus. From the Independent "In Switzerland, authorities said on 29 April it is now safe for children under 10 to hug their grandparents because young children "do not transmit" the virus. But German virologist Christian Drosten conducted a study, published a day after the Swiss announcement, which found children "may be just as infectious as adults". While there are those who state that the evidence is not yet robust enough to come to a clear conclusion on the matter" The point is, this pathegen is new and we still don't understand it. While there are lots of different research being carried out, nothing is certain at this stage."]You stated I was spouting dangerous nonsense. Clearly I am not and you'd be better reading what the other poster put up which demonstrates that this is thought to be the case and while there are several theories on where this virus came from this is more based in research and reality . That's hardly dangerous nonsense ."]LOL. You're actually claiming to know more than virologists! Morty (Westmeath) - Posts: 209 - 05/05/2020 19:16:55 2277578 Link 2 |
I agree theres no guarantee that there will be a readily available vaccine anytime soon I think there's going to be some risk associated in everything we do for the foreseeable future can we really maintain the same level of social distancing that we are now right into to the middle of next year I don't think so! The way I look at gaa is it going to get the stage where there is as minimal a risk as possible that it can go ahead and that's it down to each individual players officials and fans to decide if they partake or not depending on there own personal circumstances! All this pending on hopefully the number of new cases dropping off in the next few months! A lot of people on social media calling for all gaa to be scrapped this year think there's going to be a miracle vaccine and we can fill the stadiums again straight away in the new year.

Yeah I'd tend to agree..I can't see the miracle vaccine coming about and even if it does one can imagine the problem with roll out etc..( I'm sure there are fancier terms). Next two months will tell a lot.

The GAA's management committee and chairpersons from each county board will meet remotely today to discuss the future of the 2020 All-Ireland Championships in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Advancedmark (Mayo) - Posts: 18 - 06/05/2020 10:26:10 2277616 Link 1 |

I'd love to have some club action in the middle of the summer, but the more I think about it, the more pessimistic I get. Despite what everyone is saying about "club games before county games", I actually think that, if games do go ahead, it will have to be at county level first. To me, the logistics involved to safely play club games will be too difficult for most clubs to manage, and too many players will make the choice (perhaps rightly) not to play. football first (None) - Posts: 1259 - 06/05/2020 14:02:14 2277631 Link 1 |
Username that would suit ye in dublin not to have a championship this year and would give ye a chance to refresh yer team before a tilt for 6 next year.

Fixtures will likely be pulled but probably gives fixtures committee time to work out a possible fixture list for the future. It could be be half way into 21 before they get playing. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2752 - 06/05/2020 15:02:56 2277636 Link 1 |
personally i would rather they knocked inter county championship on a head, being played behind closed doors would do nothing for me watching it on tv with no atmosphere. Yourjoking (USA) - Posts: 699 - 06/05/2020 15:27:54 2277637 Link 2 |
