I'm tipping Donegal. If we played Dublin I would tip Dublin because logic is also a part of these things. For most people!

That's pretty clever thinking in fairness, well done chief :-)

The annual donegal excuse being used again I see, an understrenght meath team to beat an understrenght donegal team by two points.

Kerry are likely to contest and win this years league and all Ireland imo. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 01/02/2020 13:07:11 2264168 Link 0 |
Never said it was clever. Just logic, which your mate Royal seems to cope with.

How do you think the game will go anyway?

I think we will scrape a win, I don't think there will be much in it. If Meath could get 70 minute performances going then they'll be dangerous for anyone. Super 8s last year and division one this year are massive learning curves for Meath. Both teams with injuries but our key men are good so I'll take a narrow win.

Strange logic to me. When we play Dublin I'll be tipping Meath. I guess it's different in the non traditional counties.

That's a fair assessment, Donegal have had the edge over us of late so naturally will feel confident heading into this game. Murphy and McBrearty could cause us a lot of bother and we're missing our 2 corner backs and Harnan from last year which has really put pressure on our defense. I think this is a must win for us, so I'm hoping for response and I while I'm not confident that we will win, I'm confident that we can win provided the effort is there. Listen I was only having a go at that other wind up merchant, Meath should certainly fancy any of their home games and need to win most of them to stay up. We probably need this just as much as Meath though as we are away to Kerry and Dublin later on and wouldn't expect much easy there.

You can tip away at Meath when they play Dublin, you'll be the only man in Ireland doing it now in fairness. And I think we would have a much greater chance beating Dublin than you traditionalists. Was losing to us 3 times last year part of the tradition? Donegal_abroad (Donegal) - Posts: 1319 - 01/02/2020 20:24:25 2264266 Link 8 |
Please don't let the black card via 10 min sin bin become another VAR. Our guy was off for 12 mins and in that last 2 of those Kerry stole the winner. Still our offensive approach was pleasing. We should get one win on the road probably Navan and win at least 1 more and possibly 2 wins at home of our 3 home matches left A few Corofin lads to come will help so squad depth much better than in recent years. Well done Kerry. Ye will be there high Summer and we look super 8 material imo. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1946 - 01/02/2020 20:46:45 2264280 Link 3 |

I would say the bookies smile every time they see you coming along before a Meath game.

I'm curious what a traditional vs. non-traditional county is. Obviously "traditional"status is doing us no good considering our record vs. Donegal in championship is P4 W1 L3 D0, and the league is P13 W3 L6 D4.

That's a poor record we have against donegal, the last time I can remember beating them is the 1990 all Ireland semi final, we haven't beaten donegal in the championship since and bar a draw up there a few years back I cant remember when was the last time we beat them in the league, we came close to beating them in the last few years and hopefully today we can get the job done, an mhi abu.

I assume he is referring to Meath's better overall record in Sam Maguires throughout history which is certainly the case and hats off to that, no doubt. Then there's head to head as well as you say which paints a different picture. When the here and now isn't so good I suppose the history books are a nice thing to fall back on.

Congrats Kerry you are a good team. Now the official used his "discretion" 3 or 4 times to stop McDaid coming back on after the 10 mins elapsed. How does discretion apply to the rule when it clearly states the player can return after 10 mins when there is a break in play. I contend that the GAA violated Galway in Tralee. The points should be split as the rule has nothing to do with discretion. The GAA has completely destroyed the game. I watched the Dublin/Mayo game it was rotten. The red card was a joke but that was discretion, like the extra time they play sometimes. They were giving marks before the players even asked for them. The sin bin duration is not a discretion issue. Gaelic Football is losing. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1667 - 02/02/2020 12:35:54 2264425 Link 2 |
