He was excellent dlman while still playing well within himself. Covered plenty of ground and along with Murphy, Langan and Jamie Brennan was involved in most of our positive play.

Donegal absolutely dominated the game yesterday. After the first 20 minutes they totally controlled the tempo at which the game was played. Meath never penetrated the Donegal defence and had to resort to shooting from distance. Donegal, on the other hand, created six good goal chances. They played well within themselves and had another couple of gears if required. Unless there is a dramatic improvement Meath will finish the campaign pointless.

yes Yew but there were 3 or 4 breaks in play after the 10 minutes, this is why Galway were furious in Tralee as McDaid was not allowed on until seconds before the final whistle. Looking forward now.

Ah now, it was a stroll in fairness. 10 point win, a penalty missed and the crossbar hit as well. We are a few levels apart currently.

Except there were 3 stoppages in play after the 10 minutes had elapsed. 2 of them were Galway kickouts during which the sideline were trying to get McDaid back on to the pitch, but the ref didn't allow it. Kerry got their winning point after the first of these, when we should have been back to 15. I'm a fan of the sin-bin as it's a proper punishment for cynical play. However, the GAA need to make sure it's implemented properly or it will give the naysayers plenty ammunition to get rid of it. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2018 - 03/02/2020 22:00:29 2264963 Link 8 |
Looking highlights of Kerry and Galway and noticed a trend of Kerry forwards pinning down defenders on opposition kickouts. When will referees clamp down on this cynicism from Kerry?? hamsterdean (Limerick) - Posts: 223 - 03/02/2020 22:09:33 2264966 Link 17 |
Well ye have a valid point then. The problem is the referee has too much to watch and record now...it's ridiculous. Refs need help.

That is just a blatant lie but your good at that. I dare anyone to watch the highlights and back you up. It was a very clean game and the only thing that there could be a complaint about was mcdaids twelve minutes in the sin bin at a critical time in the game.

Careful now, they're exempt from any sort of criticism here by the Kingdom elite. Every team bar Kerry are like that apparently.

Watch the highlights again. Clifford after scores second point from play wraps his arms around Sean Mullerrin. Clifford and co having been doing this for years. Sean Shea(wasn't playing Saturday) gets away with the same. Will take a strong referee to punish this. Their backs also getting away with putting hands on opposition forwards. Forwards. Momentum is pushed away from goal when gets ball into hand.

The Kerry mayor uisce runs in front of opposition keeper at kick outs, its sooooo cynical, but its cute. maroondiesel (Mayo) - Posts: 1193 - 04/02/2020 10:19:14 2265014 Link 7 |

Yeah, Gallen would really benefited from playing Division one league football but the important thing for him is to recover properly from his injury. Needs to get it right this time or it could well cause him bother for years to come. Rory Carr springs to mind. Think you're right about DCU as well. Unlucky to miss out but hopefully he has bigger days to come.

Not much talk of monaghans good win over Tyrone at the weekend. Great to see. We have donegal in ballyahannon, a game we can get something out of and then Kerry mayo and Meath at home and I fully expect us to win 2 of these games to keep us up. 6 is the magic number baby and we are a third of the way there. monaghanmad (Monaghan) - Posts: 377 - 04/02/2020 10:56:49 2265035 Link 1 |
I agree completely. The timing of sin bins should be monitored by the 4th official (or linesman in some club games), in the same way subs are. It's a much easier task for someone who isn't preoccupied with everything happening on the pitch.

The timing of the actual game should be taken off the referee also...a timer like in ladies football but then what happenes in the club games happening all around the country....there won't be a timer and hooter system at every village pitch in Ireland

I traveled down to Tralee Saturday evening and can't say I saw any Kerry players pinning any of our players from kickouts. I must say it was a beautiful game to watch, I was devestated we lost the after being three points up in injury time but hopefully cillian will learn from his mistake.
