Anthony Daly Headed Back To Clare?

(Oldest Posts First)

Interesting development here with Anthony Daly leaving Kilmacud Crokes.

With the Clare vacancy up for grabs, could he headed back to the Banner men?

Definitely No. In the examiner yesterday he said
"I had no interest in getting involved in inter-county management at this time. If circumstances were different in the future, I may be willing to return to Clare, but not at the moment"

Not while Pat Fitzgerald remains on the county board, anyway!

They're welcome to him. Dalo didn't give near the required level of commitment to Kilmacud during his time there (didn't attend gym sessions etc.) and the players certainly weren't unhappy to see the back of him. A "brave" effort in the 2018 championship (after toppling the AI champions) and a whupping at the hands of Cuala are all he has to show for his time at the club. I'm not sorry to see the back of him and hope that KC go for someone internal next time as opposed to a "big name".

Good enough for ye.
Ye have too much money and numbers anyway. Ye shouldn't need to go to Clare to get a manager.

Sure if ye get any more desperate ye might go there.
Nobody wants it in Galway anyway.

How on earth can you have too much numbers? Are you saying that only a select number of people should join a club?

No, but ye should not have to go outside yeer club and fork out thousands for a manager. Surely there is someone internal ye can get.

I wouldn't mind him at this stage.
We are still in top 3 for 2020 All Ireland. We would get someone no problem if our muppets of a county board knew how to manage our finances.

It is not just the County board. The clubs should also bear some responsibility. Regardless there are good times ahead for Galway GAA.

When you fail you can either blame or grow!

That's fair. I wasn't in favour of Dalo getting the role in the first place but he wasn't the only factor in KC not kicking on. The team has been there or there abouts for the last few years and have a lot of miles on the clock so I'd imagine they'll need an infusion of youth to reset the clock. That's partially why I'd like an internal appointment, preferably someone who's worked in the underage setup for the last few years who is aware of the emerging talent.
