I think it's Micheal O'Domhnaill that hosts GAA Beo and it's McDara that does some of the commentary. Overall I would be a big fan of TG4 coverage. Little to no agenda and analyse whats going on on the field albeit as gaeilge. They were the first to show behind the goals camera angle on kickouts to show the movement out the pitch and I think they also were the first to show live action in a small corner when showing replays so you don't miss quick kickouts.

Each to their own.

link Also on YouTube but seems to be uploaded to podcast apps quicker than YouTube. Conors Sketches in a few live shows so better to watch it. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7337 - 13/09/2019 13:26:37 2235009 Link 9 |
If he stuck to analysis yes but the first part is usually just him ranting about the GAA, even stuff he knows nothing about. And usually there is little debate as it's his opinion or nothing else.

Replace Joe with Vinny . Now that would be entertaining. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 13/09/2019 14:05:02 2235018 Link 0 |

I'm a big fan of the GAA coverage on tg4. I'm not proficient in Irish but know enough to get by. No egos, no agendas, it's great. Plus they show games RTE and Sky wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

For once I agree with Eamonn Dunphy regarding Joe Brolley/RTE. michael (Cork) - Posts: 381 - 13/09/2019 20:54:17 2235096 Link 3 |
Stephen Rochford will be a massive addition in terms of analysis. Up there with Sky Sports

did Joe not get enough seat time to explain his positions? we can all predict his next thought, nothing personal against him but he needs to move on just like the players and managers at some point. I only enjoy TG4 and a bit of the sky to be honest.

Agreed 100%. Its coverage is phenomenal. They consistently have excellent analysts with a good spread of older, recently retired and current players giving their thoughts. A blueprint for how to do things right. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 1898 - 13/09/2019 22:11:33 2235113 Link 1 |
I give you absolution my son for agreeing with Eamon Dunphy. Now for your penance write to rte asking them to provide special glasses for pundits who can not see the fouls committed by their home team.

I don't know a single person (in my Kildare supporting group or my friends/work colleagues from various other counties) who is remotely interested in listening to him any more. So in my experience the audience as his judge are fully in support of RTE getting rid of him. Of course Dunphy is going to support him - the old 'politically correct' argument excuses him having to look at himself & his own rubbish 'analysis' too !

Now they just need "red" button english language commentary like the Welsh and Scottish channels

At least today there was no one talking over the other or trying to pad their own ego. So the pundits did well. It was pointed out about the 10 steps for the Dublin goal and left at that. The big mistake for that goal was Moran passing it to the Dublin player. Goes to show in a spilt second anyone can make a mistake. Players or referees. No one died and Dublin made history. It was easy to listen to with intelligent respectful analysis. Pat Spillane was extremely dignified in defeat. Brolly was zero loss whatsoever. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 1898 - 14/09/2019 21:46:02 2235338 Link 0 |
