Likely Football Allstars 2019...

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

with only 1 game to go things looking a lot clearer on the allstar front, obviously there is the possibility somebody cpuld have a stormer/nightmare in final that gets/costs them an allstar but id say at least 13 of the following are nailed on, with one or 2 debatable and Stephen McMenamin/Geaney/Sean o shea/John Small/Howard very, very close...

Cluxton - Dublin

Keogan - Meath
McNamee - Tyrone
O'Sullivan - Kerry

Durcan - Mayo
Boyle - Mayo
McCaffrey - Dublin

Fenton - Dublin
Moran - Kerry

Mannion - Dublin
Murphy - Donegal
O'Brien - Kerry

Clifford - Kerry
McShane - Tyrone
Callaghan - Dublin

I know Donegal didnt make the semi finals but I think Shaun Patton has been the best goalkeeper by a mile this year. Ryan McHugh was brilliant too.

Dublin will most likely win on 1st September and I think you'll see them get 8 or 9 all stars.

If Davy Byrne has as good a final as he did semi final he's nailed on to get one in the FB line, Cooper should be getting in there too. I'd be taking Boyle and McNamee out for them, Keogan into the HB line
If McCaffrey has a good final then he's nailed on too but if not then I think McHugh might pip him
Clifford, O'Brien, Mannion, Murphy and O'Callaghan are all certs for forwards
McShane might get in there but I think its very hard to see Howard miss out, he's arguably in for POTY

Murphy is no cert harsh and all but Howard plays well in the final he's a cert and in running for poty, I actually can't se Murphy get in there's two many forward's ahead of him now.

Tyrone would be doing extremely well to get 2 All Stars given the Championship they had.

Patton is great but if Dublin do the 5 there is no way Cluxton wont get it seeing he is one of the key men of the whole 5yrs

Agreed on Patton , he was a revelation but after all the furore on cluxton missing out last 2 years there is no way he will be overlooked this year

McShane has to get one, absolutely has to. What more could he have done?

Yeah, ill grant you McNamee is debatable but it was a very poor year for fullbacks so far and he was the pick of them, john small or cooper could pip him with a good final performance

The selection of the Goalkeeper will continue to be as simple as ABC.....Anyone But Cluxton

I can't see my own county get 2 All Stars this year. McShane is a cert in my opinion. If he doesn't get one, no one in our team deserves one. Ronan McNamee has a chance. There isn't any other player of ours in the reckoning.

Can't see it , who does he get in instead of ? The front 6 are already picked imo , midfield will be Fenton and Moran so can't see him getting in there either.

O Brien - dead cert
Clifford - dead cert
Howard - dead cert
Con - dead cert
Mcshane - dead cert
Mannion - dead cert

The next group will be off the top of my head;

Geaney
Rock
Kilkenny
Scully
McHugh
Doherty
O Se
Donnelly
Murphy

Very hard to
See how he gets in

Only right aswell while every keeper makes mistake after mistake Cluxton has never been better. Rock solid as always. The Greatest.

Probably close as it stands. I don't think Donegal will get two though, not getting through to the semi final. If the Dubs as expected win the final you won't be far off.

Exactly. Who would you like midfield with Fenton.. Moran or Murphy. Answer is fairly simple. Some combo in midfield.

Ah come off it. If Murphy doesn't get one this year then I don't know. He has been the most consistent high performance player in the championship this year and was in line for POTY only for being knocked out of the championship too early as history shows you need to make a final in order to get nominated (apart from B Brogan in 2010).

Murphy can get an all start in any position from midfield up. He's been over looked too many times in the past as is and it's scandalous that the best player of the last decade has only 2 all stars to his name.

I think Cluxton is a dead cert this year. Patton and Morgan had good years and will probably be nominated with him but Cluxton (barring a mare in the final) should get his long awaited 6th award.

Is Brain Howard really a dead cert? I don't think so.
