Congrats to Kilcoo and commiserations to Boden. Boden looked leggy to me and i wouldn't be surprised if many heads had turned toward county with a new manager and maybe new slots up for grabs.

But taking nothing away from Kilcoo, more then worthy winners on the day, i thought they took their goals really well after some shocking defending and really controlled possession well. Enjoyed watching some of their players and its great to see Down being represented in the later stages of a competition. Well done to all involved.

Lets not do the David and Goliath thing, Mickey Moran and his team are not there for the promise of free parking spots at the club ground.

Good wins for Corofin and Kilcoo.

Great to see a new club in the final. Kilcoo deserved their win and could have won by more I felt. Boden had a lot of ball but were ineffective with it. I've never rated them highly, well organised and you have to be at your best to beat them but that's about it for me.

Corofin would have destroyed them imo. Kilcoo will give the Galway lads a better game of it but still think it'll be three in a row for Corofin.

Kilcoo were outstanding yesterday, in control of the game from start to finish, there game management was excellent they sucked ballyboden in then hit them with pace from everywhere and boden could not cope with this.
One thing which seemed to be part of there game plan was taking players out off the ball every time kilcoo attacked players were hit before there runs and how they only got 2 black cards was shocking, i was expecting a lot more from boden but only 3 points from play sums up there day.

Regarding final Crofin will be big favourites but kilcoo our fit, v skilful and have a serious hunger in them and with mickey moran on the sideline you just never know, it will be a cracker in croker.

One side note, not one kilcoo player started for Down in last years ulster opening game against Armagh unbelievable.

Couple of good games yesterday - well done to both winning clubs and commiserations to the two losing teams. Have to say Mickey Moran must be up there with the top managers of the last few decades. Remember him taking a club sessions of ours years (couple of decades) ago before a County semi final and he has a way of talking to players where you listen and absorb what he says. I can understand how he manages to take teams and get the most out of the players available.

One thing though on the point being made to use Kilcoo as an example of how you don't need money to be successful - I would be surprised if Mickey isn't getting a few pounds for his expertise and trouble which, if he is, kinda nullifies the money argument.

Great game between ballyhale and slaughtneil. Shamrocks big names put their hands up when it counted near the end. I thought the interviews/analysis was ever so slightly patronising towards slaughtneil, which I feel was not needed. That said congrats to ballyhale on a hard fought win.

Was a good game. Slaughtneil started brightly but when Ballyhale got settled into the game they hurled well. From what I seen Slaughtneil got away with more than Ballyhale did! Reid exceptional from the dead ball as expected. Slaughtneil stayed in until the end and fought well but I had a feeling Ballyhale had another gear in them when needed.

Thank god hurling prevailed in Newry, the sledging and behaviour of the slaughneil players let themselves down a bucket full.A club the promotes themselves as the ultimate Gaa club have no perch to sit on, no respect for the opposing opposition, continually shouted abuse and booed T.J at every free, thank god their air horns ran out.
Mcgrath was an embarrassment- obviously sent out to put big Cody off his game, no intention of hurling against him so let's drag him down a level- not to mention breaking a players stick in half and throwing Another two hurls off the pitch which he got booked for, their manager couldn't control his emotions either, twice trying to put T.J off his free taking in sight of everyone in the stand, I understand some teams have a whatever it takes to win attitude but this won't work on the big stage-was a pity too because without being set up like this the slaughneil team can hurl a bit too.
