Replying To Joxer:  "It has to be somebody's home ground though surely. Similar problem with Thurles in Munster for Tipp. Dublin needs a separate stadium. It may not make financial sense to have two large stadia in the capital, with Croker becoming a concert arena essentially, but it might stop the incessant whinging."
It isnt at all similar with tipp hurling and Munster. Especially with change in of Munster hurling championship. Tipp have always played regularly in cork, limerick depending on who they were playing.
Dublin needs a separate stadium but it doesn't have to be a very large stadium simply a stadium for some inter county games to stop the ridiculous practice of the national stadium being a home ground for a counties football team and a change wouldnt at all mean croke park would be a concert venue

How many Dublin games would you move out of Croke Park? Let's say they play 3 LSFC games in Croke Park at present, qtr, semi and final. So perhaps move qtr and semi of LSFC to Portlaoise? Move their Croke Park (their is no neutral venue in the rules) S8 game to Clones or Thurles? Dubs wouldn't object to any of this but you can be sure that other Leinster counties will whine about missed Croke Park games. A 30,000 seater stadium is needed for Dublin's home league games. Just build it.

I acknowledge that this will be skewed by the fact that we went into the qualifiers but it highlights how ridiculous some elements of our Championship are.

After semi-final, Tyrone will have played 2 games out of 10 in Omagh. 20%. (8 different venues)
After semi-final, Dublin will have played 5 games out of 7 in Dublin. 71%

If either reach final it looks even worse:

Dublin 6 out of 8 at home. Tyrone 2 out of 11 at home.

Try explaining it to someone who is not a GAA fan."
this game should have been the 2nd game of the group.

Same 2 teams will qualify, but at least it takes the group to the final match .

I'm actually glad there are 2 dead rubbers in this group. It should mean that this ridiculous league table format mid-championship doesn't get renewed after 3 years.

The old All-Ireland quarter finals were usually an excellent weekend's football.

Replying To cavanman47:  "Donegal's motion was an attempt to prevent any team from naming Croke Park as their home venue.

It wasn't aimed at changing the "Croke Park" round of games to ensure Dublin played at a neutral venue outside of their own county.

So it was never going to pass. It made no sense to make Dublin play a potentially huge game in Parnell Park. It would've made much more sense to make the 4 neutral games neutral, not Croke Park games."
You want it both ways. You're not happy when we play in CP, and you're not happy when we have to play in PP. Would the other county boards get their act together and just tell the Dubs what to do..........Oh, they do that already LOL

Anyone else think it's dead weird people hoping for low attendances and dead rubbers in a group. It's detrimental to the whole game and every county.

You might love us, you might hate us, but one thing is certain the country is obsessed with us. ;)

This is the greatest show...........;)

As opposed to Dublin actually having it both ways, playing 2 games in CP????

Look, CP is Dublin's home ground, they play their home league games there and I can't remember the last time they played a championship game in PP.

So surely it would be fair for the 3rd Super 8 game to be neutral rather than CP?

That's not wanting it both ways, that's just fairness.

Absolutely. You would be hard pressed to find seasoned Dublin supporters disagreeing with you. Hopefully the powers that be realise the clusterfuck with venue selection and everybody gets the same next year.

Dublin are a great side and it would be best for everyone if they put under the same demands to travel as every other county. Was very surprised how low the attendance was at their away game in Portlaoise against Louth. It's only an hour away and has a train link and handy buses.

Do the Dubs really like to travel?

But my response was to a Dublin poster who was disagreeing with me.

How seasoned, I don't know. I saw young and old mistake Eric Lowndes for Diarmuid Connolly a couple of years back ;)

The reason people didn't travel to Portlaoise was the same reason that attendances have been down in Croke Park - the perceived quality of the game. Dublin have a decent enough travelling attendance for the league where the expectation is for closer games.

During the 2017 Championship Mayo played 10 Games; 8 of which were away from home. Subsequently 100% of Dublins games were played in Croke Park that year. Carlow, Westmeath, Kildare, Monaghan, Tyrone and Mayo.

Other counties take big crowds relative to their population to away games they are expected to win easily. The % of Dubs who travel is very low.
