Donegal, Mayo and Tyrone are favourites to make the semi-finals.

Roscommon and Cork are capable of causing an upset against Tyrone but Tyrone will be expected to pick up wins as they did over Kildare and Cavan.

Are Meath outsiders for making the semi-finals? I'm not writing them off, I just think every other team will be more confident of getting the results required.

Pathetic post. Admin can we do something about all these petty posts. If this person & several others aren't starting threads like this they are hijacking decent threads.

Lol... Kerry are favorites to go through their group with us and Mayo fighting it out for second place. But you knew that.

I fear for Meath and especially Roscommon. Semi finals......Donegal v Tyrone and Dublin v Kerry. Final......Dublin v Donegal.

Couldn't wait for someone to start a thread like this! It'll be a great week for speculation and discussion no doubt. I think it's hard to look past Dublin anyway, Tyrone should be able to get over the line against Roscommon and Cork but who knows? These are essentially one-off games and the pressure on the "outsiders" wont be as high as the counties expected to deliver. Im amazed (in a good way) at Cork's championship season so far and Roscommon's heart and soul on display vs. Galway was a thing of beauty.

In the other group I feel Donegal are the most complete team. Kerry seemed vulnerable in the backs and Im unsure about Mayo although their mental strength and commitment in recovering from a loss so early in the championship was also very impressive. Meath are the white elephant but believe me, that'll suit them.

Im immensely looking forward to the Super 8's. As a Meath man, delighted to be back at the business end and a great opportunity for our team to play and mix it up with the best. Im predicting Dublin, Tyrone, Kerry, and Donegal to go forward but very hesitantly. Im hoping for shocks galore.

Typical Kerryman. Managed to downplay his own county's chances, as well as ignoring the Dubs
Not bad though!!

Mayo have had the edge on us in over recent encounters. I am not looking beyond that very difficult opponent in phase 1.

I am throwing in the ball so that the Super 8 discussion can begin. By all means write away about any team in the Super 8.

I don't think Roscommon can be dismissed lightly. Just like the Laois hurlers, if they can get the crowd behind them, they could cause an upset.

Cork might have to gamble on staying fresh for their second game in Croke Park. If they can turnover Tyrone in Croke Park, they'll have a home final game to secure a semi-final spot.

We could be looking at a Donegal v Cork or Roscommon semi-final, with Mayo in the other.

I think your crowd are dark horses to make the semi-finals. Stay fresh for Tyrone, turn them over in Croke Park, then ye will have a packed home crowd against Roscommon with a semi-final on offer against Donegal or Mayo.

I think Dublin have slight chance of upsetting Cork on Saturday. Cork may be overconfident after beating Laois, and Dubs have home advantage,
Dubs are an upcoming team and may take one of the semi final spots. Cork should not under-estimate them. Cluxton's back is improved, and hopefully will not exert himself unduly picking the ball out of the back of his net.
Mayo should advance with Donegal. Kerry are inexperienced and Mayo's old timers should have too much guile and experience for them.

1. Kerry are Munster champions
2. Mayo have had no rest and Kerry will have had time to size up Mayo.
3. Kerry are Kerry.

Mayo and cork have great chance in these I think. Both are capable of beating their first opponents.

I'm looking forward to seeing how meath match up against the other stade aid free counties. It will be interesting to see how close we can get. Tyrone the current SAF champions. Who will claim the title this year?

I'd expect Donegal and Kerry to come away with victories in the first round of games. Mayo to beat Meath and Kerry to beat Donegal in the 2nd round. Leaving a winner takes all in McHale Park for the final round which would be a great spectacle.

In the other Group I'd expect Dublin and Tyrone to win their first 2 game leaving 2 dead rubbers for round 3.

I'd be a bit worried of some of the attendances in Croke Park though. I'd be surprised to see more than 30,000 for Dublin v Cork and wouldn't expect either of the two double headers in Croke Park to break 40,000. Great figure really when you look at the likes of the LOI but looks very poor on the TV to have empty stands.

In my view the super 8's have only come in to serve the coffers of the GAA and not to improve the game. 12 games instead of 4 to take gate receipts from. Even if the individual gate receipts are relatively low, the 12 games combined must make a fair bit more money that the 2 days of double headers in the past. It's a lot to ask for supporters. You'd wish that the GAA would have a discounted 3 game package available for supporters who want to attend each of their county's game.

Don't fear for Meath. This is bonus territory. Everything achieved this year. This is about developing and seeing where to improve for league.

Cork play Dublin at HQ in their first game. They'll be destroyed

I think if we picked a panel of the best 26 players from the other 7 teams they'd still have a hard time beating Dublin to win Sam,
I think Kerry are favourites in our group, then it's any one of Donegal Meath or Mayo to join them and play Dublin in the semi final,
I think Dublin will win the other group with Tyrone then meeting Kerry in the semi final, Dublin v Kerry or Tyrone in the final. that's my thought's on it anyway, obviously I'm hoping Donegal get through to the semi final but it won't be easy, we need to beat Meath first and that wont be as easy as the media would have you believe, we might shade it by 2 or 3 points if all goes well next Sunday.
