Cavan Vs Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Not the draw we would've wanted to be honest but a team we must get over in order to see ourselves as a real top 8 team. I'm sure Tyrone fans probably would not have wanted us either compared to some other team but its a game they will fancy themselves in I'm sure. Tyrone come in on the back of a good run of wins but may feel the effects of these games week in week out. Cavan come in on the back of a demoralizing Ulster final defeat and will be hoping to pulled themselves together for this.

Tough game but unlike a lot of teams Tyrone do seem to thrive on playing each week and improving the more games they play. Even last year against Cavan in Q3 there were periods when they did not seem up to speed while in the following weeks games against Cork & Roscommon they were far better. I do not fear the amount of games as much as players getting injured but so far things have been going ok. Maybe I'm clutching at straws but I feel Cavan will find it very hard to lift themselves after the disappointment of losing the Ulster Final.

The U20 game between Cavan and Tyrone is set for Clones at 2.45pm on Saturday, so with the TV rights for Sky for 2 Round 4 qualifiers, looks like the Senior game will, be on at 5pm as part of a double header.

Ulster teams seem to have a magnetic ability to be paired together during these draws...

Close Proximity = larger attendance

larger attendance = money

money = let's just call them "convenient coincidences"

Tyrone will be happy with that draw. They always beat us. To be honest I can't see any other outcome either. It's a pity as it would have been nice to have a crack at the super 8s. The experience would have done our lads the world of good. Anyway good luck to Tyrone, you should definitely make the semi-final. Maybe another crack at Donegal. That should be tasty.

Not sure if you are trying to be cute or what?

You have skipped 4 matches there.

Ridiculous post.

Also have a bit of optimism in your team. Cavan have been excellent this year and You are in with a good chance of beating Tyrone. The players deserve that after all their efforts this year.

Oh yeah, get that in there so if we do lose you can come back on here and say that I told you so bla bla bla. We're playing Tyrone. Get over it. How about a bit of positivity. I'll be behind the boys 100% and I expect us to beat them.

Tyrone are 1/4. That's a 25% return on your investment. You should lump it on if you're so certain that cavan are a write off. Youd never get an interest rate like that in a bank. Buying money.

That's the spirit.Evenly matched teams and a good game hopefully. Tyrone looked good against kildare (hard to really tell though as kildare were shocking) but ye have also been excellent so far dispatching Monaghan and armagh.

Cavan will have learnt a lot from the donegal beating and wont let it happen twice. I suppose you could say the same about Tyrone also so it should be an even battle.

Cute Hoorism of the finest order and there's me thinking that was confined to our friends in Kerry

This game should be close. Cavan have beaten Armagh and Monaghan already this season and were beaten only by Donegal but then again so were Tyrone.

I'd expect Cavan to bring much more fans so it will probably feel like another away game.

Tyrone might win but only just.

Don't think Cavan fans are trying to be "cute hoors" by writing their team off here but it does seem like an even tougher task than the Ulster final and the bookies odds reflect that (Tyrone 1/4).

The big factor here is momentum, the optimism going into the game vs Donegal is gone where as Tyrone are on the back of an excellent run since they were beaten by Donegal, especially their convincing win at the weekend.

I struggle to remember the last time we've beaten Tyrone in a meaningful game but I hope that changes this Saturday. I expect Cavan to put in a better performance then that against Donegal but expect Tyrone to have just that bit too much in the end.

Tyrone by 3

I think if Cavan go back to what worked from them before the Ulster final, focus on their own positives rather than trying to come up with something to stop Tyrone, they will be in with a good shout. They changed things against ourselves and we were excellent as well, but I don't think Cavan helped themselves at all.

Tyrone may have reverted to the defensive shape since our victory against them, however I'm not sure that will work against Cavan and they would do well to go back to what they were working on earlier in the year in my opinion.

I know there is a bit of deflation in Cavan but I think this could actually be an absolutely cracking game

Until we learn to handle Peter Harte we won't beat Tyrone. He destroys us every time.

Although I would favour Tyrone for this game I wouldn't like to bet my house on it. Cavan are a good side who didn't show up in the Ulster final. Tyrone had a good win at the weekend but Kildare have gone downhill alarmingly since last year. It won't be easy for Cavan to pick themselves up after losing the ulster final but its a chance to get to the Super 8s.

Tyrone seem to do this every year, start the year slowly and build momentum and end up in the latter stages of the All-Ireland. However there was something really off with their performance against Donegal, maybe it was just a bad day at the office but it didn't feel right, nearly felt like the players gave up. It will be a really interesting game and whoever wins is in the Super 8s and its game on.

Tyrone will win easy. They will qualify for semis never mind super 8's. This is Tyrone we are taking about , second best team in country .

So if Tyrone are the 2nd best, and Donegal are better, where are Dublin? Zero? -1?

Yes indeed as they proved in the Ulster Semi Final against Donegal a few weeks ago,
