Well you're right there but the scenes in Parnell Park on Sat night were incredible and the players loved every minute of it. They are unique moments and a chance for players and supporters to join as one and enjoy the moment. It's a great GAA thing, that outpouring of emotion together. I didn't see any swings or south Dublin TDs in sight so no threat of a claim I would say. Just adults and their children taking responsibility for their own actions.

Spot on. Brilliant to watch the emotion.

Sick of every aspect of our games being 'sanatised'. Gender quotas on rte panels now though half the time we don't know who the female analyst even is. Ursula Jacob is an exception, cracking camogie player and great analyst.

Players : GPA and ex several players have come in in support of no pitch invasions. Ciaran Whelan: "its not something players enjoy in the slightest. The presentation following the Leinster final in 2002 took place on the field, without the crowd making its way onto the pitch, and it was definitely the one I enjoyed the most". Its clear when you see the players with their partners & kids celebrating on the pitch which they prefer.
Several players and refs have been assaulted during these invasions (Mark Ward, Cooper, sludden..etc)

Pitch is for players, coaches and match officials. Leave pitch to players, their families and no more. Stops potential for injury, trouble and lets players enjoy moment far more the fans have next few weeks/rest of year to celebrate with the trophy/players

On the Roscommon piece, there definitley needs to be a line drawn that supporters should not be on the pitch before the game ends. That is not acceptable.

I think there is a place for both aspects, Players should have there time together on the pitch to congratulate each other, and commiserate with the opposition. Maybe a 5 minute period, then allow the fans to come onto the pitch. Always like seeing a trophy being lifted with a crowd of screaming fans in front of them.

Will it be necessary to bring a birth cert to a game if only family allowed on pitch

The Roscommon supporters thought the game was over. There was an electronic clock that showed 42 minutes(Cassidy had added 7 minutes injury time). The ball went dead from a Galway attack.Cassidy restarted the game when the fans left the pitch and played another minute of injury time.So 8 minutes of injury team for a half with no injuries of any note.We celebrated in style when the game officially ended.!

what ultimately is to be made from people going onto a pitch?
What is the benefit?
Leave players celebrate with their teammates, coaches etc. Leave the players who happen to lose the game clear the pitch in their own time without having to deal with hundreds/thousands of opposition fans nearly running through/over them to get to their own players. It stops potential for incidents involving fans and players. Leave the immediate moments after the game to the players, coaches who were actually involved in the game as well as their families.

Ah now complaining about the joyful scenes at the end of a match among players and supporters in amateur game where community is everything. The snowflake generation is a alive and well going by some of the comments on here.

Is this thread still going? Fair play. Didn't see too many Rossie players complaining about the pitch invasion. It's an almost unprecedented period of success for this team in the age of professionalism competing among the best in Division 1 and taking two of the last three Connaught titles ahead of Mayo and Galway who have dominated the province. Let us enjoy it. Hon the Rossies!
