The Leinster football championship needs help. Dublin shouldn't enter until the semi-finals at the earliest. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7757 - 06/06/2019 10:57:44 2191115 Link 0 |

Unfortunately, any shake up of the structure will need to incorporate both the league and the vested interests in the provincial councils. kingdom_come (Kerry) - Posts: 76 - 06/06/2019 14:40:18 2191184 Link 0 |
The Leinster hurling championship for years had a number of minnows starting in preliminary rounds with only one getting through to take on more dangerous opponents. In it's current structure, the Leinster Football Championship does require some tinkering. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7757 - 06/06/2019 17:55:55 2191239 Link 0 |
I really do feel that the 8 groups of 4 format is not going to work. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4172 - 06/06/2019 18:30:39 2191247 Link 4 |
I think it needs a strong Meath or Kildare or other county to emerge. To be honest I think all the Provincial championships needed to be moved to early in the season and have a league style main championship. Before you say that the weaker counties don't want that I say to you look at articles from players from currently weaker counties. They speak of how good the league is, how the league is their championship. Let's make something similar their championship. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4172 - 06/06/2019 18:46:32 2191250 Link 4 |
Could the provincial championships be played out in January? Munster semi-final losers can compete in McGrath Cup final. Connaught semi-final losers can compete in Connaught Cup final. Ulster quarter-final losers can compete in McKenna Cup semi-finals. Leinster quarter-final losers can compete in O'Byrne Cup semi-finals. The 8 provincial round 1 losers can compete in Murphy Cup quarter-finals. Final can be played in Croke Park as curtain raiser ahead of the Leinster final. Run the National Football League as normal after that. Have whatever All-Ireland Championship is agreed then after the club month. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7757 - 06/06/2019 20:55:47 2191282 Link 0 |
