The rainy day in 2015 final against Dublin didnt really suit us either, I think we would have taken them on a dry day.

That's true, we had a bad run of weather in 2015, the Munster final replay in Killarney was a wash out the semifinal against Tyrone was brutal as well. It was almost like the heavens were crying for what was to come for Gaelic football. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 15/05/2019 19:30:07 2184383 Link 2 |
Yes i was on the hill that day against Tyrone, very bad conditions but an enjoyable game of football nonetheless. The dubs superior fitness is hard to stop though in those tiring conditions.

They are athletic for sure and it helps them to have the home venue and home reff.

All very good points lads. We're mothorin nicely. We need to work our way back to the Tyrone games of the 03, 05 and 08 now and see what injustices robbed ye of those titles. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2018 - 15/05/2019 21:50:21 2184418 Link 2 |
Another few threads may be needed for all the injustices-), lets just say we are where we are and get back to the topic of the minors.

The fact is Kerry's U18s won 4 in a row All Ireland's not 5. 2014,2015,2016 and 2017 the last year of U18. The first ever U17 All Ireland was won by Tyrone in 2017 while Kerry that year was beaten by Roscommon in the All Ireland semi final. Last year Kerry won the U17 All Ireland and they have opportunity to win 2 in a row this year. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3329 - 16/05/2019 01:58:10 2184454 Link 2 |
I've no problem with Tyrone or Armagh's wins over us or Donegal or Mayo either, or the dubs in 2013 or 2016.

Never worry to much about this great to be honest, often find not really reflective. I think it's about fun and development at this stage and coaching and developing a few gems. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 16/05/2019 10:18:53 2184496 Link 2 |
Its a five in a row buddy, but don't take my word for it, look up the minor football roll of honor ;-)

Enough of the nit-picking; it's five in a row and it's an amazing achievement. You don't have to like it if you're not from Kerry, but it stands, none-the-less. Midleton (Cork) - Posts: 643 - 16/05/2019 12:28:53 2184562 Link 1 |
That U17 AI thing that was run in parallel to the U18 proper AI doesn't really count.

That's gas you say the minor grade is only for fun and developing a few gems and then in your next paragraph you say how Leinster is a higher caliber competition then the rest and that yer lads are playing death matches, so which is it? :-) Is it fun or death matches? He is right though. Kerry won the last U18 All Ireland in 2017 which was 4 in a row. Has been U17 since so maybe if the word "minor" was ditched it would save any confusion..

Hi we won the Tommy markham Cup and played before the senior allireland for the last 5 year which equates to 5 allirelands in a row, like I say look up the minor football roll of honor. It's an absolute amazing achievement doing it all on our own steam and no help from anyone. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 17/05/2019 14:39:37 2184960 Link 1 |
Hello how are you. Nobody is belittling your achievements and you did win five underage All Ireland's played before the senior ones in Croke Park however the fact Is the last U18 All Ireland was won in 2017. No one has such confusion for the U21 grade which is now U20. For example Kerry won U21 Munster in 2017 and Munster U20 in 2018 do you claim that as two in a row? and i'm nearly sure the cup used for U21 level are now used for U20. Im good bud how'r you? I don't mind if People try to belittle our minors achievements because we know and everyone knows it's 5 in a row . weather it's U17 or U18 it doesn't matter , when Dublin do the 5 in a row this year will it matter that Brian Fenton wasn't there for the first one or that Paul Flynn Isn't there for the 5th or that Connolly and Rory o'carroll missed some of them, or that fellas like cluxton are 5 years order? Ah, I suppose it's a bit different alright at under age. They game of football has never really been the first game in the province and Kerry have pretty much killed off any prospect of a revival. Any young lad in Munster outside of Kerry will take up the small ball. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 17/05/2019 18:52:10 2185029 Link 0 |
Very good my friend i'm just after watching my team comeback from 8 points down at half time to beat defending Connacht U17 champions and this years favourites by 2 points but Hoganstand with their article tries to tell us that it'a Galway's first defeat in Connacht for 4 years. Funny as i'm nearly sure i watched our U17s beat Galway in the 2017 Connacht final. Nothing about belittle achievements which i would never do. For the record it was 4 U18s and 1U17 All Ireland in the last 5 years, my point was the word minor should have been dropped once it became the U17 championship and all this confusion would be saved. Those young lads are better off playing the small ball as the dubs and the GAA have ruined the big ball for everyone. At least the small ball is safe from them for another few years. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 17/05/2019 23:55:04 2185093 Link 1 |
