Having asked a Longford man who knows everything about Longford football I know the answer...but wont spoil it for everyone else! Apparently there were 2 Longford men in the side, one played and scored a point and the other was a sub

P. Geary should read P. Gearty

No. And it wasnt Eddie Macken, Larry Cunningham, or Declan Nerney either.

I'm told it was Padraic Geraghty (not sure if the spelling is right but dont think "Geary" is the right spelling either unless I misheard!). Apparently there was a Barden in the subs, presumably the dad or close relation of the Bardens who played more recently for Longford.

Thanks Midlands. I remember the two games but still struggled to remember the faces of a number of the players .

For what it's worth, this is my attempt at captioning the picture: Back row: John Timmons, Paddy Holden, Paddy McCormack, Mick Carolan, Kevin Heffernan, Mick Carley. Front row: Charlie Wrenn, Padraig Gearty, Mickey Whelan, Greg Hughes, Andy Phillips, Tommy Greene, Brendan Barden, Sean Brereton. I'm a bit doubtful about a few, but I think I have most of them right. It would be much easier nowadays with the numbers on the front of the jerseys!
