When Liam was in Galway he did a fair bit of pub visits. This I believe was to help the galway team fund their holiday. I wonder how did Limerick fund their holiday? Why do All Ireland trophies, have to tour pubs, so that a crowd who might never go to a GAA match, slobber over the cups?. It sends out a very bad message, much better to tour the schools, and community centres. When my own team won the Offaly JFC title last October, they headed for the local! I'm pretty sure people who frequent these big bad pubs, aren't actually prohibited from leaving said pubs and seeing the trophy in the non-pub place its visiting. I do agree with cups going to schools especially Liam McCarthy and Sam Maguire its great for the kids, but the problem is not everyone in the county goes to school and not every parish has a community hall or sports hall, but every parish has a pub so whats so wrong with bringing it there, many a good gaa man and woman enjoy a drink why is that so wrong, it's as part of who we are every much as the gaa is.
