Well from 1974 to 1984 Tipp won only one game, and that was v clare in 83 and were beaten by Limerick, Clare and Waterford, as well as Cork, almost at will. From 84 to 93 Cork did figure prominently however.

We took a battering for Cork in the 1983 and 1984 Munster finals. In fairness that Cork team were like the recent Kilkenny team. Ray Cummins, Seanie O'Leary, Jim Barry Murphy, John Fenton, the McCarty's, Pat McDonnell, I think maybe Donal O'Grady and on and on. They were so good. My vivid memory is Ray Cummins breaking in on John Power near the end of the game, taking mercy on him and tapping the ball over the bar. At that same time Tipp were no match for us but it led into the lowest level of our performances.
