Cian Lynch

(Oldest Posts First)

Well done to him on a brilliant year. Personally I would've given it to Hannon but Lynch was superb too.

I sat in the rain in Semple stadium in 2016 and there was a certain amount of Limerick fans giving him savage abuse that day and it was worse on the pitch after the game. They were in the minority but was the first time I experienced that type of thing up close before.

He has always been a top class player in my eyes and I was shocked that a young lag got that treatment that day. In no way is that a dig at the overall Limerick support and as a neutral after the Munster cship they were the team I wanted to win.

On another note I thought Mike Casey should've been a certainty at full back. He was brilliant in every game he played and for me himself and Hannon are now the two key cogs in that team.

Well done Cian Lynch a great player and spoke brilliantly last night but it just shows how flawed this system is with inter counties players letting feel good stories dominate their decision, Cian Lynch had a great season but he wasn't even in the top 5 limerick players this year not even close , this coming from limericks biggest fan this season who watched all their games and knew from early on it was their time.

I remember that in 2016 actually was talking to him on d pitch and an aul lad in his 50s started at him you could see Lynch was close to tears.
Since the day I saw him against Clare in 2015 you knew he was a special talent.
Well deserved player of the year personally his one of my favourite Limerick hurlers a nice bloke on and off the pitch.
All the hype was about Mannion going into the final but Lynch played a stormer in semi and final and I think the selection were spot on.

Great honour for Cian Lynch. He came across very well in his interview on stage afterwards. Bittersweet emotions for Patrickswell GAA as on they same evening they lose one of its greats, Leonard Enright. RIP.

Conflicting opinions here. To me Graeme Mulcahy was the man for Limerick this year, as he delivered big time in every game and often at crucial times, but I would not agree that Cian was as low in the pecking order as you make out. Sad news this am with the news of the passing of another 'Well great, Leonard Enright, RIP.

A worthy winner. His goal before half time in the All Ireland semi final against Cork was a sublime piece of skill and a crucial score.

Mulcahy
Casey
Hannon
Galane

Imo all better , for me he was good but was nowhere near the reason limerick won out. He was nowhere near poty standard. I hate saying this cause I genuinely like the guy and is a super player.

I don't necessarily fully agree with your pecking order but that type of thing happens every year. Last year being the biggest example

For the record lynch scored more from midfield this year than canning scored from play last year. Personally he wasn't my choice this year either but he was further up the pecking order than some of the past winners

For the record.. he played 4 more games this year then canning did last year.

Thought that might some up. With all due respect to some of the teams in Leinster, Lynch had far tougher opposition. amd he also plays in midfield. Galway won the all ireland last year at a canter.

Would have picked mulcahy myself ,but to be fair cian was an absolute colossus for us all season, have been fortunate to see him in action a lot at minor 21 senior club level ,have met him few times, nice down to earth lad , conducts himself well. great role model - he always has time to sign stuff for kids take photos says on pitch for ages after, thought he spoke very well upon receiving the award,

Well deserved. Canning was better this year than last year (when he shouldn't have won HOTY) but Lynch was outstanding all the way through and thoroughly deserves to win it. Some of his touches were absolutely unreal and he has a hardness to him at the same time that all hurling people will appreciate. Well done Cian Lynch.

Canning didn't play a traditional centre forward roll last year. In fact he turned provider and was more of a midfielder than anything. Besides Scoring rates mean nothing when it comes to hoty. If they did Canning would have won it this year by your reasoning having scored more then lynch. For the record i think Jamie Barron was hoty last year and i would have picked mannion this year, maybe thats my Galway bias. But i wouldn't begruge lynch or any of the limerick team their rewards.
