Mayo Fermanagh 2004. Finished in a draw. The love affair was born. 7 all Ireland finals since. Tons of enjoyable days out despite the lack of happy ending. Dublin semi final come back in 2006 will be hard bet.

I cant go back as far as Ollie but for me it was the semis of something called the Grounds Tournament (I think) The previous years' Provincial finalists took part from what I remember. Galway were there, as were Kerry and a fabulous Down team. Hard to believe but Longford were representing Leinster. I'll let ye google the year :)

Remember been brought along as a schoolboy. This was when County Teams were really amateur, before players were giving 30 plus hours per week to professional training without pay. The games were boring to watch as aimless kicks up the field lead to more tussling and spilling of the ball. I just wanted to go home and play ball myself realistically feeling that as a 9 year old I could do just as good as them.

In later years I got to enjoy going to matches thanks to the serious training put in by modern players, Well up to recent messes created by clowns of managers making a mess of blanket defense tactics.
