Another New Kid On The Block For Kerry

(Oldest Posts First)

Watched the Kerry football quarter finals on TG4. Two very entertaining games. Tony Brosnan for Dr Crokes. Looks a classy player, scored 0-9. I never heard of him before Sunday. Has he played for the Kingdom at underage level? The new Kerry manager needs to get him on board. Jesus they're littered with forward talent.

With all these proposed rule changes I wonder would the Dubs let us play a game of backs vs forwards when we meet over the next few years?

Brosnan and his younger clubmate David Shaw are two to watch. Crokes are some club to keep producing these guys, Murphy, White and Burns came through this year.

Murphy didn't come from Crokes production line...

True, I forgot that. Still a remarkable club. A lot of minor medals gathered between all their young players in recent years.

Tony and Dara Roche are two of best inside forwards I have seen play in Boston in recent years. I know its well mentioned at this stage, but there does not seem to be many guys putting their hands up for the 2 - 9 positions. I think we could rattle off another 10 forwards who would be pushing on intercounty standard.

Is this the new David "second coming of God" Clifford that the lads on joe.ie fall on their knees in admiration of? Just have to hope there isn't too much of that obsene amount of pressure being put on the young lad

Definitely not as good as David Clifford or Paul Geaney (IMO). The stuff on Joe.ie is based on a couple of county championship performances so there is a still a bit to prove. As I said, I feel as if there maybe 10 other forwards in Kerry who are close to a similar standard, who are on the cusp of being senior Kerry players, it will be interesting to see who drives on.

It's funny how things work out , at minor level Jordan kiely was a better minor than Tony but now Tony is the 1 looking more likely to make the move up to the Kerry seniors.

Dara Roach is an unbelievable finisher as well, I'd say James o'donaghue and Barry john Keane could be under pressure to hold their places on the panel next year.

wfkerry says Brosnan came on a substitute in the championship under Fitzmaurice last year. Did he even play minor football for the county? Jordan Kiely is a skilful player too. I remember him coming off the bench for Crokes in the All Ireland final two years ago and he made an instant impact. Maybe he's on the light side? Brosnan has more size in him. Both have bags of potential.

The name Dara Roche rings a bell but can't say I've seen him play.

Killian Spillane. What's the thoughts on him? Never made the seniors.

David Shaw is a serious talent too.

As they should be Kingdomboy. New slate now starting Monday, reputations should mean nothing going forward as we look to get back to top of the pile. Time to put up or move on!

Ya Brosnan came on as s sub against Clare in the allireland quarter final in 2016 I think it was Toney,
He was a minor in 2012 and 2013 but was only used as a sub.

Killian Spillane is on the extended Kerry panel he captained the Kerry juniors to an allireland in 2017, I'd say they'll give him another year or two to see if he'l step up to senior standards but he'd want to get on with it.
