3. Mayo

No all Irelands but does not tell the whole story. Had Kerry not been around 1980-84 Offaly would have won 3 Sams. Had Dubs not been around Mayo would have at least 2.

I feckn love this Mayo team. Any other era they have 2/3 Sams."
on the day Dublin won their 4th all Ireland, instead of being out celebrating you are making a post about Mayo? Mayo were or little or no relevance to the business end of this years championship given they didn't make the super 8's. why does it always come back to mayo?! what's the obsession. even on the other thread about congratulating Dublin its littered with Mayo comments....
I really don't get it and its a big disservice to Dublin and the other teams who had very positive campaigns

Well it's impossible to disagree when someone finally puts the hard facts on the table.

Imagine if Tyrone had Canavan and O'Neill yesterday. They'd have kicked Dublin out the gate.

That's where the quality of opposition in a given era comes to the fore.

There just isn't the opposition there at the minute.

If Mayo played against themselves in an all Ireland final they would still find a way to lose!! Maybe they would draw and go to a replay.....

.... but they would lose the replay!!

To have a loser you have to have a winner so by your logic they would win the replay also..
Think you meant it be a constant string of replays cause they wouldnt win:)

Pure conjecture to suit your agenda. No way to quantify this statement and well you know it.

In all Ireland finals against your lot they've conceded 2 own goals, started with their sub goalie who subsequently has a nightmare and get a player sent off for punching an opponent about two feet from the referee...... no wonder ye "feckn love" them!!

I dunno, Canavan is 47 and O'Neill's a bit past it. I'd say they'd be shackled well enough.

Beaten by Donegal, Kerry and Galway x3 in that time, plus all the Dublin losses. Draws against Derry, Roscommon and Cork in that time. Nearly relegated numerous times in the league. Peaking yourself for one side in Aug/Sept each year and matching up well against them tactically but still losing does not make you a great side. Theyre not even the second best side of that period

Probably the best team not to win Sam, but nonsense to suggest they're 3rd best of all time. Mayo fans themselves would say the same.

They were the 3rd best team in Connaught this year, maybe.
