Because the guys who're under 20 play too much and the burn out is ridiculous. It should be the same as football.

Well Kyle hayes and Seamus flanagan didnt look too burnt out last sunday , neither did peter casey when he came on , Both kyle and seamie started all limericks championship games this year and played both limerick under 21 games, and both were outstanding last sunday

hayes played senior championship last year as a 19 year old as did Cian lynch in 2015 as a 19 year old. Both had fine debuts.

Cian Lynch , sean finn, barry nash, kyle hayes peter casey, tom morrissey all played senior championship last year and went on to win under all ireland 21slast year. It didnt burn them out they were all massive for us in 21s campaign. All bar hayes won all irelands in 2015 too in their first year under 21. (casey was still a minor). Albeit with a lot less senior games than this year

Winning the under 21 was of huge benefit to them last year as they got 5 extra high quality matches. And it gave our supporters and kids an interest in the remainder of the season. It brought them all on a tonne as was evident by their fantastic displays this season. Its likely that playing in an under 21 final will do jake morris a lot of good going forward.

For less successful counties like ourselves having those players available and winning an under 21/20 title is massive.

These guys are in college and play there. Play potential senior and u20 intercounty and various club sides.
Stopping u20 players if they play senior intercounty from playing intercounty u20 players saves them from a lot of needless training/playing games.
The younger top class players dont need to be dragged about by 10-15 teams. At what stage do you stop players and potential burnout?

What are the 10-15 teams to which you refer. I make out that such a player would be involved in around 7 teams.
A - County senior, Under 20/21, College/univestity - 3 teams (generally only 1 code)
B - Club under 21 and adult team - 4 teams - quite often both codes, but not always, and some smaller clubs may not have an under 21 side
County under 21s who are on senior panel dont usually train with 21s until just before a championship game and/ or when senior team is knocked out, and often dont play under 21 challenge games while involved with senior, thus reducing the amount of "needless training/playing games" to which you refer. Senior players have already reduced their training load this year due to increased number of games. Im sure if you asked the players involved in last sundays epic under 21 final whether it would come under the category of needless playing games, i suspect they would not attest to such a view .

Think myself under 20/21s is a great level and a vital stepping stone to senior, for some counties (including us) its often our best chance of silverware

separately i wish your nenagh ormond team the best of luck in the forthcoming season and hopefully ye get that well overdue and well deserved promotion... assuming of course there is a division 1b next season

I am 20 years old, know a lot of inter county hurlers, they love it and can't play enough games.
The real problem is the lack of understanding between competing coaches regarding training, multiple matches on the same weekend, etc. But that is improving.

I exxagerated but 7/8 teams is still far far too many. 4 or 5 is too many with training and matches to be combined etc
and why talk off topic??
nenagh cant go up and shouldnt. dont have depth or resources to go to 1B. And why talk off topic why not simply say that about nenagh in the club thread and youngmunsterman why dont you answer pm's on boards.ie??
