Replying To Wally:  "I know it's slightly different scenario but when we won the county championship for the first time in 20 odd years I would have been totally gutted if my club mates, family and friends couldn't have joined me on the pitch to celebrate."
Very different scenario. 80,000 people with access to the pitch or at a club game probably a few hundred or a couple of thousand if your lucky. Players should be allowed enjoy the day and stay on the pitch. Close families should possibly have passes to join them on the pitch. maybe 5/10 each

Replying To perfect10:  "well funnily,i have heard aaron gillane,jj delaney, damien hayes all saying in the last 24 hrs that they think the fans should be allowed on.
jj said that the highlight of winning an all-ireland was meeting your clubmates on the pitch afterwards.
h&s is used as an excuse for everything-why are people allowed on after matches in thurles?its the same pitch.

i think if you are allowed onto the pitch, you should completely waive your right to claim in the event of an accident.but so what if there is an accident, cant the insurance companies sort that one out?"
Alas, we live in a very litigious society where certain people will take any opportunity, spurious or otherwise, to sue and the GAA is a very easy target. Their insurance costs have apparently doubled over the last 5 years, with escalating claims figures being very much to the forefront of this: link. A recent Limerick success, the Munster Final of 2013, was also marred somewhat by this: link.

You might say, "cant the insurance companies sort that one out" but increased claims means increased costs which are passed down to the clubs (the GAA has an overarching insurance policy) in terms of fees as well as the fans in terms of cost of admission. That's the unfortunate price of letting (some) people on the field.

Replying To The_DOC:  "Brilliant! This is so true.

Sue they deserve to win one. Deserve it way more than Longford, Leitrim, Carlow or anyone."
Most people don't remember the 1950s though, when you weren't born when they last won the All Ireland then it basically is the first for the fans. Antrim have won Ulster championships before but if they won it next year the media will treat it like it was their first.
