And if you are far west in Connemara just as far again. East and South Galway remember is largely hurling only territory while west Galway mostly football. You could be talking 60 miles by the time you see Galway albeit decent infrastructure options from then on.

So I take it by your smirk that the dubs are going to have their game on the Saturday to avoid the World Cup final. Even more favoritism being shown to the dubs. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 03/07/2018 18:22:09 2118169 Link 0 |
Yerra what did you expect from Croke Park at this stage - sure why would us poor Kerry or Galway fans get to see the WC final all you need is to make sure the Dubs don't miss it and even better, force the Donegal fans to travel the 4-5 hour journey home at 9pm just so the Jackeens get their few Sat night jars. Please God this Newbridge stuff turns out to be the beginning of the end for what is now the Gaelic Benefit Dublin Association... Or the GAA think more Dub fans proportionally follow soccer as well. To be honest the scheduling is strange as I think the world cup final could knock more out for the Kerry Galway game as a percentage of who might attend than the Dublin Donegal game. The flip side of course is they might think Sat is likely to bring a smaller crowd than Sun for the Kerry Galway double header world cup final or no world cup final.

Maybe move the Sunday game to Moscow, make it a double header. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 03/07/2018 20:20:33 2118195 Link 1 |
Have to say though, feel for the Donegal fans not staying in Dublin that night can see no reason why this couldn't be played at four or five at the latest. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 03/07/2018 20:29:25 2118197 Link 0 |
Yes, has my full support! PUC or nowhere. (Providing Cork don't Qualify)! TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 03/07/2018 20:39:27 2118200 Link 0 |
It will make the GAA sweat at least and do some squirming. GAA treats us like peasants. We're supposed to turn up, pay our money (that's the most important part), and cheer. But we're not supposed to have any opinions. The sooner they realise that there's no game without the players, the better they will be. No one is paying €40 to watch a committee meeting.

Of course its doable, but for that to happen you have to give a toss about people & Croke Park don't.

The famous Armagh v Kerry game when Donaghy scored that goal was a 2pm throw in with Cork v Donegal after. And boy was it some steaming pile of dung.

A season ticket holder is guaranteed a ticket to every championship game their county plays (unless the ground capacity is smaller than the number of season tickets) The attendance percentage only comes into effect if the county gets to the all Ireland final.

Also I note the hurling q/finals are down for Sun 15th. Probably Thurles but if Galway lose the replay to Kilkenny surely to God they cannot have the hurlers on the same day as the Kerry Galway match at such an advanced stage of the championship if different venues. That would be the ultimate insult to Galway dual fans. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1946 - 03/07/2018 21:39:27 2118215 Link 0 |
This is the statement released by Donegal PRO Ed Byrne. Following the announcement today by the CCCC regarding venues for the All-Ireland Quarter-Final Group stage (Super 8's) games. joeteor (Donegal) - Posts: 214 - 03/07/2018 22:02:44 2118223 Link 2 |
well the country board are seeking a meeting with the gaa over "how a team can use the same venue as home and neutral". delighted with the CB wouldn't think they'd kick up a fuss but glad they have NaomhNaille (Donegal) - Posts: 124 - 03/07/2018 22:03:09 2118224 Link 0 |
Is it not one home, one away and one in CP? Can't see how they will have any joy with this seeing as all other counties voted it in last year no? This is not the same imo. Still not fair but not the same.

Fair play to Donegal!! TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 03/07/2018 22:30:56 2118238 Link 6 |
fair play to donegal...it's about time a county stood up to the farce of dublin claiming croke pk is a neutral venue...no doubt the dubs will come up with their usual nonsense of they will play anywhere, but we never hear them objecting to playing their games in croke pk..if it's not an advantage to them, they should follow donegals lead and object to having to play their "home" game in croke pk...i very much doubt it mayotyroneman (Tyrone) - Posts: 1821 - 03/07/2018 22:40:38 2118240 Link 2 |
