Question, why have pool 1 play on Sundays and pool 2 play Saturdays??? What i mean is, Dublin only have to travel to Omagh for a match inbetween 2 matches at Croke Park on Saturdays. Kerry have to travel to Dublin and now Clones on a Sunday evening, forcing any supporters that would travel extended travel times with work the next morning. Why didnt group 1 get Saturdays as the travel time is longer then pool 2?? Just doesn't make sense to me. NarrowBack914 (USA) - Posts: 181 - 20/07/2018 14:36:30 2124032 Link 2 |
Theres very little about how the GAA is being run that makes very little sense these days to be honest. Hurling fixtures from the very start were a mess and now we are in mid July with 2 weekends of hurling left and thats it. Football and the so called super 8 fiasco another mess, the newbridge fiasco, the absoloute mess of how the super 8 was brought in etc etc. tearintom (Wexford) - Posts: 1328 - 20/07/2018 16:27:27 2124049 Link 2 |
Case made for taking games out of Croke Park I think. MuckrossHead (Donegal) - Posts: 5028 - 21/07/2018 20:36:19 2124363 Link 3 |
Yes. If that was in croker Dublin would have cantered to a 7 or 8 point defeat. Unfortunately the ref was biased to Dublin as usual so it could have been even closer. However definitely not as biased as when they play in croker. It's a pity this format is only coming in now when the football is at it's least competitive state ever. Pre the gaa funding Dublin in a professional outfit this would have been super exciting. Hopefully the hurling stays how it is but I've a bad feeling Dublin could start dominating that too in 15 or 20 years. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 21/07/2018 20:45:17 2124369 Link 5 |
Boo hoo. "The ref was biased as usual". Listen to yourself kid. It's like a broken record. That's 25 championship games in a row unbeaten. You don't do that with biased refs. It's just class. Name your venue, narrow your pitch, gather the hostile crowd. At the end of the day, we'll let our talent do the talking 15 v 15. If you're good enough you're good enough.

Totally unfair to have two of our games in Croker. Would love to have played Donegal in Clones or the Rossies in Tullamore. Hopefully the GAA will rectify this next season as it's not fair on competing counties and us Dubs crave championship away days. CaogaCuig (Dublin) - Posts: 63 - 21/07/2018 23:14:01 2124454 Link 0 |
Crokepark should only be used for semifinals and finals muck, i for one will never again attend a quarterfinal there after this year, it's a horrible desolate place void of any kind of athmosphere except for semifinals and finals when big crowds turn up.

in fairness you could ask this Dublin team to play their 3 super 8 games out on Tory island and they'd likely still win all 3 games without hardly breaking a sweat, who can stop them? looks like Galway or maybe Tyrone if they get another crack at them in Croker in the final. Monaghan will end Kerry's season tomorrow. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 2739 - 21/07/2018 23:56:20 2124492 Link 1 |
Oh for god sake put a sock in it , I take it you missed these incidents , Tiernan McCann got away with the blackest of blackcards early in the first half. Small got a smack to the face. Both caught on camera. Biased is you jack_Goff anti dub as always ,sleep well. !! superbluedub (Dublin) - Posts: 2837 - 21/07/2018 23:59:45 2124495 Link 3 |
Dublin should be re-classified as a province. It's already made up of the capital city council and three separate county councils. Dublin against the other 4 provinces home and away in a league format will revive the Railway Cup.

biased ref? Tyrone should have had 3 black cards and possibly a red in the first half. Nothing. Not a one. We heard the smack fenton got to the face from 50 yards away. Nothing. Grow up.

Definitely, A very Moderate, and I am being kind to Tyrone by using the word moderate, Tyrone team could have sneaked a result. Home advantage and the Dubs playing outside Croke Park made a huge difference. I am not going to start blaming refs or linesmen as the standard across the board in both hurling and Football leaves a lot to be desired. We need to have another 80,000 capacity pitch in Cork where the Dubs can play their Finals and Semis in. Don't know what happens if it is a Cork V Dublin Final. Maybe build one in Mayo near the Airport.

Agreed kingdom, you need at least 60,000 to create any sort of atmosphere in Croke Park & like you I will no longer go to games there & judging by this year's crowd figures we are not alone. The danger is,of course, that Croke Park will turn into a massive white elephant but the answer may well be less football & hurling & more concerts that can fill the place. As things stand there must be worried faces at the top of the GAA these days about what to do with HQ. Good to see Dubs on board with this too. It was great to see them in their thousands in Omagh yesterday & I have no doubt that having Dublin out & about is the way forward. I wonder will Jimmy's winning matches now bestow upon his the honour of "less tainted legacy" now that we took Tyrone down in Omagh or do we have to beat every county away now in the championship before our untainted legacy can be achieved. Paper never refused ink as they say.

There are 39k registered GAA players in Dublin to be honest its an area we could do with pulling our socks up on given we have a population of 1.3 million before we start talking about provinces etc. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 22/07/2018 10:27:08 2124572 Link 2 |
