Replying To jimbodub:  "Good 2nd half performance after the fortune goal went in by Mayo

Although with SOShea looking to have a dodgy arm injury

Could that be Mayo without Parsons and SOShea in the middle?

Fairly light there if so against the better teams"
Aidan oshea and Lee Keegan. Hardly the worst guys to call upon!

Congrats to Mayo I actually thought we had ye for the taking but the goal knocked the stuffing out of us and we stopped playing last 20 minutes nothing went right for us.
Mayo kicked on and finished very strongly an 11 point swing is nothing to be snuffed at.
I'm glad we put it up-to Mayo as I thought we'd be easily beaten but Mayo have tougher games ahead and I hope the lads who had to go off will make it back for the next game and beyond.
Really hope they go all the way this year if not them then Leitrim!!!!!
Tipp Abu!!

Tipp played the better football for the majority of the game yet lost by an 8 point margin to a team who through strange positional decisions and a lack of imagination diminished their own offensive capabilities. In the end the injury to SOS (another major loss) and the black carding of Boyler forced the team to revert to something closer to a normal formation, and brought both Lee Keegan and Paddy Durcan into more offensive roles. Whatever Paddy is, he isn't Philly McMahon, yet that's what he was being asked to be - using him as a man marker is like using a race horse to pull a pint. In the end he did the job asked of him (like Lee Keegan always does), but it took the teeth out of the team's ability to hurt an opposition from deep. Both made huge difference when the shackles came off, as did Kevin Mc (as always), Aidan O'Shea and Diarmuid O'Connor when he came in. Jason Doc had a very decent game on a day when Andy was less influential than usual (big gaps between games don't suit him) and Cillian who didn't look on his game at all. I thought that Chris Barrett did well to get himself into good positions, but his radar was a bit off, and young O'Donoghue turned the screw on a tiring Tipp who collapsed after conceding Mayo's jammy goal. If SOS is out (which looks likely) for an extended spell either Barry Moran and Donal Vaughan will have to get fit again quick. It may be that Danny Kirby will finally get a proper run in the team and/or Jason Gibbons will be called up. Not sure what I want from Monday's draw. Today was far tougher than the scoreline suggests and some of the other teams left had fairly facile wins.

Kerry look like the real deal too... don' t they.

You are missing the point. 2 lads pulled from other positions to fill gaps plus a far weaker bench also.

Kerry will take over Fromm dublin eventually...which is bad for the rest of the county. Will be belinf seeing keeey win all before three again....of course nobody will complain like they do currently with the dubs

That's quite possible alright Yew, with their underage success recently there is definitely a lot more talent coming through and being given senior experience early. Dublin's success won't go 9n forever like Kerry's previous success didn't and the cycle will change again I'm sure. From your own county's perspective they are probably a bit unlucky to be around at a time when Dublin have a golden generation of players with big success and now Kerry seem to be on the cusp of having a squad to usurp the dubs. Although never rule Mayo out as we all know from over the years, Mayo not being predicted for any glory generally are always are there or thereabouts.

Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul

If SOShea is out that's another major chunk of talent Mayo have missing from the middle

That's it exactly

But sure you play the hand you're dealt

Maybe OShea will be grand?

But if not you're above logic applies to a large extent

Good post.

While rumors of Mayo's demise have been greatly exaggerated in the past, it does feel like that team is beginning to ride their luck. I fully expected a Mayo win, but ye made it hard on yourselves that's for sure.

For me, Donegal have turned into a proper dark horse with all the focus on Kerry and Dublin, and to a lesser extent Galway and Mayo. But currently it's beginning to look like Dublin and Kerry are the teams to beat for sure.

Donegal have beaten no one.

We'll have a good indication of where they are when they play the dubs

i think Tyrone and Monaghan have more potential.

Likewise the acid test for Galway will be in a couple of weeks starting well will be critical and some of there older players actually standing up and being counted will have a big bearing on things

This time last year Tyrone were Ulster king-pins and were lauded as the biggest threat to Dublin...and we all know how that went , and Galway simply haven't done it in Croke Park in the modern era.
Keep forgetting its only June.
