Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "No interest in this or the Munster final, Dublin and Kerry will walk both games, Connaught final was competitive because Galway played below par, God knows what the Ulster final will be like, probably a borefest with 14 Fermanagh men defending and trying to keep in the game, super 8's is the only show in town now, provincial championships are a bit past it."
Almost Completely agree.

Think you summed it up fairly well

Dublin v Laois - Dublin by 18+

Donegal v Fermanagh - Zzzzzz Anti-football but would like to see Donegal win as they are no doubt a team who can play with a better balance to their game but expect a very poor game.

Cork v Kerry - Maybe.. just maybe Cork will at least perform at home and keep it close. They are underdogs and really have nothing to lose. That might have them a bit loose and ambitious

For a Laois chap its a weird one. You are going into a once off game where in theory anything can happen but the realistic hope is that you put in enough of a performance to carry you through to the next round of the qualifiers with the aim of grabbing one of the last Super 8 slots.

For me a realistic expectation is within 10 points of Dublin, the last 3 times we played the difference was around that margin (2016 - 11 points, 2014 - 11 points, 2012 - 3 points), and I feel we have a better team and management now than in 2016 and 2014.

Good Laois crowd going from all signs, and like Carlow, there is clearly a bit of a buzz back following a good season so far.

Yeh a good day at the office for Laois might keep it around that margin but they'll have to play real well.

Looking forward to this, lets bring the house down for Jimmy.

Legendary Dublin footballer Jimmy Keaveney will join the Leinster Council's Hall of Fame this Sunday in Croke Park.

Jimmy will be introduced to the crowd at half-time in the Leinster SFC final between the Dubs and Laois when he will be presented with a special award by Leinster chairman Jim Bolger when a highlights reel of Jimmy's career with be shown on the big screens.

Jimmy is Dublin's all-time top scorer in senior championship and league games with a massive tally of 30-402 (492) from 104 matches.

The St Vincent's man made his league debut against Wicklow in November 1964. He made his Leinster SFC debut against Wexford in May of 1964 and tallied 1-3.

He initially retired from intercounty action in 1972 after Dublin had lost that year's Leinster SFC semi-final to Kildare but two years later having watched Dublin's Leinster first round victory over Wexford from Hill 16 he was coaxed out of retirement . . . . and as they say 'the rest is history'.

In September of 1974 Dublin defeated Galway in the All-Ireland final to lift the Sam Maguire for the first time since 1963 with Jimmy scoring 1-32 in the six games he played.

He won two more All-Irelands in 1976 and 1977, two NFL medals, seven Leinster SFC medals (1965, 1974, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79) and three All Star awards (1974, 77, 78).

Jimmy was Dublin's top-scorer (combined NFL and SFC) in the following seasons - 1966/67, 1979/70, 1970/71, 1973/74, 75/76, 76/77, 78/79 with the 1975/76 season being his most prolific when he amassed 9-37 in 11 games (6-18 in SFC and 3-19 in NFL).

Connacht best province. As for 2019, I hope groups are used to determine the provincial finalists to get the best 2 in there. Otherwise the provinces are done. Monaghan or Tyrone would have taken Ulster, Dubs are unstoppable at the moment, Cork might have learned from an earlier meeting with Kerry, Connacht is a toss up. Groups please.

Twat!

The rest of your original post was "this is a pointless exercise". It absolutely is not if Laois can bring this experience of playing a super team and knowing what the bar is to future matches.
For a team going in playing div 3 and 4 opposition all year what were you expecting? A heroic rally where we outpaced Dublin in the last 15 mins?

As far as we are concerned it's draw a line through this, take what positives we can and move onto the next one and next year.

What is Gavin puffing about that John Small should not have been sent off that he thought it was just a tackle. The tackle was a foul and Small was still not happy he had to give the Laois player a dig in the jaw. Correct Red Card. Bad act and they so far ahead.

"A dig in the jaw". Ha. Small slapped at the ball with an open hand, he connected with the ball, which deflected his hand up and he slapped the fella in the face. It was hardly an intentional "dig in the jaw".

No red card, accidental follow through after trying to knock the ball away from the Laois player. Watch again closely.
