1957 as the smallest county in Ireland beat the biggest county to land Sam. I loved the 2002 final as Armagh finally won Sam for the very first time. The previous three years who ever knocked out the Orchard county went on to win the All Ireland. That Armagh team should of won more All Ireland's. Have you any vhs footage of the 43 final handy?

2005 was the best I've seen. I was working in a bar in Galway that summer and I can remember the locals being bemused at the fact I was supporting Tyrone. I think I used the line, "Now don't get me wrong. I hate the b******s but I'd love to see them win this!" Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9073 - 15/05/2018 08:51:05 2100851 Link 0 |
Thought the last 2 Dublin Mayo finals in 16 and 17 were very good. Heart stopping stuff and not even from any of those counties. woops (Kerry) - Posts: 2073 - 16/05/2018 17:48:33 2101463 Link 0 |

The other one that really stands out was 2008 brilliant match Kerry v Tyrone just proves Kerry lost a few as well Rogers (Westmeath) - Posts: 20 - 16/05/2018 22:53:12 2101544 Link 0 |
I think we've lost 22 finals in total, you see we are only an ordinary county with a population of 140,000 we were never going to dominate Gaelic football but I can tell you who will.

I do congratulate you on being able to cram so much Yerra into a single sentence. You even managed a little bit of deflection in there, so not only have you portrayed yourselves as the plucky little underdog, but have also hinted at the big, bad monster with whom you are faced with. It's breathtaking, and due in part to no small skill on your behalf. Well done - 10/10. If the reality of Kerry's eye-watering dominance of the sport of Gaelic football at both Provincial and National level wasn't an undisputed fact, some people might even be tempted to believe this stuff... While Kerry have won the most AI's they are also the team that have lost in more finals than anyone else.

And we did it all on a very modest budget.

If it's all about money why are our hurlers not winning all Ireland's every year? We're still relying on a 35 year old to win us games

Would those grown men crying have been Cork men to make it all the sweeter for the Kerry men?

I don't know if this was "the best", but I'm sure it was one of the best. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2419 - 17/05/2018 19:19:52 2101766 Link 0 |
Ye'r hurlers started from a lower ebb than yer footballers but I give it 2/3 years and ye'l be winning both.

Some of the best hurlers currently in Dublin don't play for the county side. I'd say at least six to eight. Some because they choose to play football, but, correct me if I'm wrong, I read a couple of week's ago that four players from Cuala refused to join the county team, no reason given. Perhaps you can shed some light on it?
