Donegal's win in 2012 was the most convincing All-Ireland win of this decade by some distance. A rural county like themselves simply can't ask for the same level of commitment from their players year after year unfortunately. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5010 - 19/04/2018 14:58:20 2093977 Link 0 |
Can't argue with that. Donegal were the best team in the country in 2012 and played some great football. All Dublin's wins have been less convincing but all arguably much more competitive games and IMO Mayo have only got better since 2012. Look what Mayo did to Donegal a couple of years later.. In this decade you have the best Donegal, Mayo and Dublin sides of all time. All 3 teams have competed against and beaten the other in some titanic battles. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 19/04/2018 15:11:04 2093983 Link 1 |

Galway 98 and 01 for me, that was some team, Padraig Joyce and Michael Donnelan were a joy to watch, they were strong all over the field and played lovely attacking football. GeniusGerry (Kerry) - Posts: 2105 - 19/04/2018 21:18:15 2094032 Link 1 |
Ya those Armagh and Galway teams were excellent Gerry I remember the battles we had with them in 2000 were serious, great times for football.

They also had a rock solid defence . Tomas Mannion, Sean Og de Paor, the two Fahys, a very young Kieran Fitzgerald and Declan Meehan . They were a very good defensive unit that also posed a very serious attacking threat . Alan Keane was also a fine keeper .

Hurling - It has to be Offaly in the early 90's. Brian Whelehan was the best hurler I ever saw. Pure class. Effortless. They had others like Jim Troy, while maybe not all time greats had a skill level that was a pure joy to watch. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1826 - 20/04/2018 09:11:45 2094066 Link 0 |
