Yeah we probably won't be, but that's a bit of a luck of the draw factor. We've still competed well and I feel there's a bit more pride in the team than there was 2 years ago. The Joe McDonagh cup is a higher standard than the Christy Ring that we couldn't win a 2 attempts. Westmeath will give fringe guys a game but those lads will be battling hard to get in a shot at starting a Croke Park final. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4172 - 04/06/2018 15:03:31 2107305 Link 2 |
Just wondering what the attendances have been in the Joe McDonagh? The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2087 - 04/06/2018 15:09:45 2107307 Link 0 |
Westmeath vs Antrim I would say 1500 Westmeath vs Meath about 2000 other venues I don't know

Bit of a wum I see. Probably disagree with Galway being in Leinster and now getting home games no doubt. As a limerick man I would be devastated if we were relegated but would accept it if we lost all our games. Because, guess what, if you lose all your games you do deserve to be relegated.

Very easy to say you'd accept something you know is extreme unlikely to happen!

Finishing bottom in Munster is a possibility for pretty much all of the teams still. It's every bit as possible as winning the Munster championship is. Waterford come to limerick on Sunday if they beat us they are level on points and ahead of us due to the head to head. We must then go to Ennis and win which will be very tough. Lose there and it's very possible that we finish bottom. That's the beauty of this Munster Championship.

It'll take a few years for this competition to become established. While I think Offaly should remain in a 6 team Leinster Championship, the profile of the McDonagh Cup should be boosted by their participation next year. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7757 - 06/06/2018 17:04:55 2108133 Link 0 |
Hopefully, they do have a lot of hurling to come with a final and AI preliminary quarterfinal quickly after the Carlow game.

And then you've still got a chance of staying up, and are relying on Kerry winning. So about as likely as Longford beating Dublin in the football. Or hurling for that matter Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 06/06/2018 19:28:28 2108173 Link 0 |
It's been a middle of the road year for Kerry. 3 wins from 5 in the league and 3 wins from 5 in the championship. Carlow and Westmeath beat Kerry in both the league and championship. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7757 - 09/06/2018 21:54:05 2109127 Link 1 |
Well Legend, I actually think it's been a really positive campaign for us. Listen considering where Kerry inter county hurling was at 6-10 years ago, to be going up to somewhere like Cushendall and get a win is massive. If we had held out in the last few moments in the Carlow game we would be in the final now! Look we've a long way to go till we take our place amongst the Munster championships of this earth, but we are going in the right direction and it's brilliant to see the Crotta lads being such a vital part of the team! Hopefully Kerry can win the McDonagh Cup in the next few years. It'd be great to set up a play-off against the 5th team. I don't think Tipperary or Waterford this year would have enjoyed an experience of waiting for the McDonagh Cup final before knowing if a play-off is required or not. Tipperary or Waterford would be raging hot favourites obviously but it would be a strange scenario for them to be preparing for! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7757 - 10/06/2018 22:21:00 2109616 Link 0 |
Hopefully Carlow and ourselves will do the competition proud in the final in Croke Park. The Mcdonagh has been a wonderful competition and with more marketing it would take a real life of its own. I think both finalists are fine hurling teams and should produce an excellent spectacle in Croker.

Well done to Kerry. I like their brand of Hurling. Some outstanding fielding and striking. Movement off the ball was crucial. To be fair, when we were 10pts up in the 1st half, I didn't think they would come back from that. I felt that the ball that hit their post when we were 10 up was crucial. Fair play to Kerry. Twenty mins into the Kerry game Antrim were TEN points up, TOTALLY in command then they just stopped. For the next 50 mins Kerry took control as they had no real opposition. Neil McManus once AGAIN had to take on the mantle of a one man team as his team mates disappeared AGAIN. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9688 - 11/06/2018 14:23:06 2109961 Link 1 |

Instead of posting abuse and insults why don't you address my points.

I refuse to have dialog with an 'alleged' Antrim GAA person who continually criticises players.
