Aye shocking alright - but was in keeping with a lot of what was going on. There is hurling and there is thuggery!

Couldn't make the match lads, was away for the weekend.

How did mc manus pick up his injury?

it sounds a bit more sinister than the other 2 injuries which occur occasionally in hurling

Wasn't at the game bumper but heard was the butt of the hurl in to the nether regions in an off the ball - ending in a split member. Read that one of the umpires said it was the worst assault he has ever seen.

Also, seen a photo Curly had shared of the 'chop' which resulted in the broken arm. When you see the angle the hurl went in there was only one intention with it and it wasn't aiming for the ball! 3 lads ending up in hospital I think says a lot about the approach Carlow took to the game.

Was thuggery pure and simple. Simon McCrory twice targeted too, both resulting in red cards and one a wild put on top of the head.
That photo you saw of Armstrong's arm break didn't even get a yellow card.

Try that link pinkie - not sure if that will get you straight in to the picture or in to the album of the photos but it is in there:

Back to the result though, it was a good win, I was following it on twitter (with glazed eyes mind you) and couldn't believe that we made it as difficult as that given the numerical advantage at end of the game, irish news said Carlow scored 4 points in injury time without reply. Even though its always nip and tuck between us you'd expect to comfortably hold off a team with 12 v 14.
McManus in particular will be a big loss going forward, no doubt why he was targeted in first place.
Its imperative Laois win this weekend so it will be interesting to see how both teams regroup from their defeats and our injuries.

Presume that is him with 3 Carlow players around him? And a hurl coming in from behind? Shocking.

Antrim bottled it AGAIN. They lose at home to Laois. I defy anyone to say I am wrong in my summation of Antrim senior hurlers AND footballers. They HAVEN'T got the physical and mental strength at senior county level nor the heart, fight, stomach and belief.

That's nonsense. Antrim were down a few players due to injuries and suspensions.

Anyone can see that they have improved over the last year unless you don't want them to succeed.

You never surprise me, why do you bother coming on here everytime Antrim hurlers have a bad day yet you never here from you when they are on form. I would guess you are an Antrim Football man and can't bear the embarrassment that they bring to our county., so every opportunity you get to lower the hurling feel good affect in the county is taken.

Please don't mention Antrim and football in the same sentence. They are atrocious at football.
Antrim is a Hurling county full stop. Loughgiel Shamrocks have won All Ireland Senior club titles in 1983 and 2012 and Cushendall and Dunloy have represented well outside of Ulster also.
I remember watching a great game up in Dundalk between Kilkenny and Antrim back in 1987, Antrim well in the game with 10mins to go!!

Not a football county?? St. Galls won the All Ireland Club Football Championship in 2010. I have seen footballers in Antrim as talented and capable as anywhere else on the island. Our problems are self belief, confidence and playing for the full 70 mins AND we lack mental and physical strength at senior inter county.

Ahhh now we see your bias but your problem is like in so many counties do we support our own or the code we love when the likes of Kilkenny ban football and Meath hurling

The soft Antrim hurlers bottled it AGAIN at the weekend. Let's be honest, they are perpetual bottlers who are mentally and physically weak at senior inter county level. We should stop mollycoddling Antrim hurlers all the time and keep pretending "everything will be OK". Until such times as they toughen up in body and mind they will always be losers.

Antrim has no divine right to win games you know.

We've had a lot of good performances this year and probably results could've gone better.

Still if we beat Kerry and the Carlow game goes our way we'll have another shot at Westmeath in Croker and a preliminary quarter final against a big team.

Westmeath are already through to the final and will put out a second string this weekend against Carlow while saving their lads for the JMcD final, so Antrim will not be in no Final. The only match where there is anything to play for is the Meath v Laois match where both teams are fighting to survive.

Ger Loughnan last night on the Sunday Game had an interesting take on Offaly taking advantage of being relegated into the JMcD in 2019 and coming straight back up stronger and playing longer into the year, it was a fair point.

I think Westmeath will make four or five changes vs Carlow next Saturday players who will have something to prove but no doubt Carlow will be favourites
