Mayo V Galway

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Basically , no one has a bloody clue how this will go other than to say that it'll be tough, both teams targeting this game , injuries are a factor, home advantage, the referee will have his work cut out, bounce of a ball etc.
Is it any wonder there are so many rich bookies.
I've a 5er on Galway !

I think the biggest unknown factor today is whether Galway will be as committed this year as they had been for the last two, and by that I don't mean the attitude of the players when the ball is thrown in, but rather if they'll be looking beyond this game. For Mayo, the defeats of the last two years didn't hurt all that much because the focus was on the main prize. Will Galway also be going out today with a bit of the same attitude? Like a lot of people I feel that Mayo will be more up and prepared for this than they were for the last two years. They won't be derailed by something like the concession of an early goal, where Galway might react (defensive teams can panic when plan A gets torpedoed). I'm tipping my own side to come good today by a 4 point margin. I hope the ref has a good game and doesn't respond to the hype about the game being a potential card-fest. I hope the players focus on the game too and we finish with 15 v 15, with no injuries from reckless or malicious challenges. Above all, safe travelling to everyone... the roads will be very busy today.

I don't know who's going to win but to answer your question Pericles, as a young and up and coming team Galway will be going all out to win today while knowing that a defeat should not unduly harm them and keeping reaching the Super 8's and whatever that holds in store for them as their main target

Still going for Galway today, i just think they are coming into their time as a force in senior football. Excellent team in my opinion. I also think they will take their chances and have better forwards.

Like everyone has said, it will be tight, discipline will have a big say as will the ref and his decisions.

Best of luck to both teams and i hope everyone enjoys the day and a good game a ball.

You have proved me wrong before, i hope you're right, however i feel there will be a big kick in Mayo's performance today and think will win by 4/5

I hope I am right as well, Mayo will be coming out like bullets, so Galway need to come out in the right mind state; if it is another repeat of Tipp and Ross it will be a long long day. They can't go out thinking they have it won before there is even a hand on leather. But then again it's Mayo they are against so you always want to beat your rivals. Expect a couple of brawls. Just see Galway having a goal in it at the end. Won't be shocked if it goes to extra-time all the same.

How sure are we that Lee won't be in the squad today?

Prob on bench, take the sting out of the game, throw him on if someone gets a black or at half time. Great lift to any team

Shocking elbow to the face there, fully deserved red. That was very dangerous and the Galway fella looks out on his feet.

Why does Aidan O Shea stay on the half way line when Mayo are attacking..probably told to do so by the management but i dont see why his brother or Parsons cant fill this defensive role. Strange to see it.

Bad knee injury for Parsons.
Doubt he'll be back anytime soon.
Galway look average at best today.

I hope this does not go to extra-time. I don't think I can take much more of this rubbish.
