I live in Laois here and I think most Carlow and Laois people are insulted at the time of the game Saturday. BigJohn.6_8 (Galway) - Posts: 704 - 27/03/2018 09:46:07 2088600 Link 0 |
Id imagine on a practical level the grounds staff will need the evening to get the pitch and the stadium ready for the games the next day. I'm sure if it was the other way around with Division 1 final on Saturday it would be the same thing. theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 27/03/2018 10:00:14 2088604 Link 1 |
Bank holiday it maybe but Laois and Carlow are farming counties and a lot of people work Saturdays down here in fact 70% I'd say do. I was in Carlow working yesterday and to say they ain't happy is putting it mildly . I hear its down to the fact TNG want to show it plus the Armagh game and then the Tipp v Limerick game in the hurling it was originally down for 5pm and 7pm but as the hurling is a week behing and TNG have the rights then they have the clout to get these times penciled in . Id say if there was a survey done in the two counties people would rather it wasn't on the tv if it meant a better time to get to Dublin. The GAA don't care about the smaller counties! It could be to do with tv showing limerick v tipp at 7 o'clock as well.

Last year was the same. The Division four final was on at 3.00 pm and the Division three final on at 5.00 pm. Two years ago the Division four final was on at 4.00 pm and the Division three final on at 6.00 pm.
