Can't move Dublin into Connacht, sure we don't have any proper roads to bring the dubs down here for games, Enda spent everything in Dublin riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 26/03/2018 21:30:54 2088504 Link 1 |
I can see however if the B (Paudi O Se) Championship was marketed like the Europa League with success leading to inclusion in following year top event (the Sam Cup), it would work. Say, Sam is Div 1 and 2 of NFL (16 teams, after 2 Div 3 promoted teams replace 2 Div 2 relegated teams), plus prior year 2 Paui Finalists plus 4 current Prov Champs [22 teams total, 4 to 6 most likely are duplicates (byes), then play as many Prelim Pairings as is necessary to get to Sam Rd of 16]. Premin Rd losers go to current Paudi 16. omahant (USA) - Posts: 2578 - 26/03/2018 23:53:50 2088554 Link 0 |
Seriously? The Pee Flynn expressway is grand for Dubs coming down to Castlebar, likewise the bypassed road into Galway. There are also direct public transport routes into all the main towns in Connacht (barring perhaps Carrick).

We don't need roads, just a landing strip. Knock will do nicely.

Disagree completely the Leinster championship mightn't be much now but it was a great championship in the past and it will be again in the future, think of the 90s where your own county won Leinster for the first time in decades and how wildly it was celebrated, Offaly 97 Laois 03 Westmeath 04 would winning a b championship mean as much for them counties as winning Leinster, Dublin in 2002 celebrated winning Leinster like they won the all Ireland because of the seven year gap from the last one, the next time Meath win one or Kildare it be like winning the all Ireland for our two counties too, Louth almost won one in 2010 but for a piece of brilliance from big Joe Sheridan Meath denied them at the death, my point is does any of Kildare Meath Westmeath Laois have any chance of winning Sam in the summer, no not a hope they'll have to beat to many top teams but there's a better chance of winning Leinster (get Dublin on a bad day and pray for a lot of luck), winning a Provincial final for allot of teams will be remembered for a long time winning a b all Ireland will be forgotten about in the morning.
