Galway V Wexford

Congrats to Wexford, posts here in the run up show this is no surprise result.

Galway not at the races at all this league, and I'm hoping the plan is to count on the opening games of the Leinster championship to get up to speed. Only time will tell.

WELL done wexford, Bearing in mind it's the league it is still nice to win so I am disappointed that Galway lost. We are clearly not in from at the moment. I think the game will help Galway when we meet in the championship and I have confidence in the Galway set up that they will come good and a bit of luck we be all Ireland champions again this year.

Looking at yesterdays match there was a lot more dirty pulling than in the Walsh cup final and yet not a word about it here, strange isnt it,maybe its because KK werent playing ,it looks as if some posters think they are the only team who foul,

Don't know but it was a 2nd yellow anyway. Might've been wiser to have taken him off at halftime.

Great atmosphere at the game, but then the Wexford fans always bring that to games. Better team won it has to be said. Very good sides win All Ireland's, great one's win them again. Sadly I doubt if either team yesterday are going to reach those pedestals.
Wexford in my very humble opinion can go maybe up one or two more notches but don't have enough players of quality to reach the summit. Galway?...second season syndrome...again!

Wexford look like they've developed from last year. They seem to have several different lads to spring from the bench & they all make an impact. Davy damn near started the same 15 all through 2017. Not this year, though. I think they'll beat Kilkenny next weekend & reach the league final. Who knows after that?

Great insight there on the substitution, or should I say hindsight! I'd always recommend substituting players, in advance of the event that gets them sent off.

second season syndrome would imply that they were winning all irelands year in year out,am i missing your point?

Replying To SamandLiamSoon:  "From what I could see the ref pulled the play back for a free. The ball had already been played into the corner. The Wexford defender went down to pick it up and Coyne attempted to flick it away (I don't think either had heard the whistle and were simply playing on) Coyne must of caught him because he stayed down. The two umpires that ended up getting him sent off did nothing for a good thirty seconds but the Wexford lads stayed at them, they decided to have a chat then, and then a chat with the ref and he got sent off. Hopefully there was more in it than what I saw as if there wasn't it seemed harsh."
Harsh? Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

I would hope so too, but their form throughout the league has been worrying , and I think a game against the wily Cats next week would have brought Galway on no end. Wexford have improved again from last year, and while I don't think they are good enough to win the All Ireland just yet, they are on a steady climb, and who knows in the next year or two?
For Galway it's been a poor league, no new players unearthed, and their utter inability to score goals is extremely worrying, some serious work to be done over the next seven weeks for Michael O'Donohue.

The 'again' implies that. The 'second season syndrome' reference alone does not imply that, unless I'm misunderstanding.

Great win for Wexford, they hit some unbelievable scores. I expect them to beat Kilkenny comfortably in Wexford park. They look months ahead in their preparation. Would love to see Lee Chin marking TJ Reid. What a battle that would be. The only danger for Wexford is how poor Kilkenny were against ourselves in the second half. A Cody backlash could cause an upset.

Loftus, Concannon & Shane Cooney had good NHL outings. I wouldn't call it 'unearthed' certainly, we knew they were prospects before the league started, after the league's finished, down the line and in years to come.

I hardly seen a dirty stroke in either match. It is a contact game, but I thought both teams were largely trying to play the ball in both games.
I don't recall the Walsh Cup final being a particularly dirty game either to be fair!
