Surprised we have no thread set up for the second All Ireland club senior football semi final which takes place in Portlaoise tomorrow at 4.30pm. It's live on TG4.

I'm a great admirer of the Slaughtneil club and what they've achieved over both codes in the last four years is incredible. But tomorrow will be Nemo's day.

Slaughtneil haven't conceded a single goal since the Derry final this year and last year I remember they hadn't conceded a single goal in 10 championship games in the run up to the All-Ireland final. Commendable statistics.

I have watched Slaughtneil twice against Omagh in the Ulster championship and they just seemed to get the job done. A lot of wise heads can see the game out agaist Nemo.

Slaughtneil lucky enough. Their goal was a square ball, under new or old rules, but they showed great character too.

Slaughtneil lost that in normal time. They had great possession in the first half but persisted in that bloody awful, sideways, backwards, keeper REPEAT 100 times nonsense. When are Ulster club and county sides going to realise that outscoring the opposition wins games NOT this boring, possession, hand passing crap! Nemo realised halfway through the second half they could actually win and played direct football while Slaughtneil just ran out of puff and ideas in extra time.

Hard luck to Slaughtneill. They are a fine club that promote both sports for both genders and do it very well. It is very difficult to combine both at the highest level. They have made a gallant attempt. Ultimately, so far, they have failed to win the All Ireland. That is tough. Sport is cruel. But they will get over it and move on.

Nemo are a fine club too. They field five adult football teams and also play hurling ladies football and camogie also. Their former players stay with them and they inculcate their winning tradition throug the club.

Today, they won, and deserved to win, a battle between two really fine clubs. The next day, they play another fine side. I look forward to it. I hope Nemo win.

Nemo looked sharp and confident. Slaughtneil looked strangely hesitant and lacked intensity. They'd play patient probing football and then try either a timid shot into keeper's hands or a wild shot to nothing. I'd not read too much into the result as S'neil provided little by way of opposition today.
