Do you mean he is a Galway bandwagon supporter?

totally worth it, €12 from every €120 goes straight to the Key Management of the GPA. A truly wunderful organsiation reposnsible for everything from the Bibs at U12 training to the shade of green in the grass. Support the GPA!

Replying To heartbroken:  "As someone who never considered a season ticket , I now have purchased the club+ ticket for 200 euros. For me been a Galway fan I now have peace of mind knowing that a stand tickets for Galway matches is now open to me. last year and previous years I would be on line at GAA tickets but only given the option of what I considered was a poor seat. despite not missing a hurling match last year my All Ireland ticket was only sourced at the last minute . I never want to beg like that again. I also attend over 10 local championship games every year at at cost of around 120 so I was stupid never to have purchased a season ticket. yes its good value but only if your county is in with a realistic chance of making All Ireland semi/final."
This year Cavan have not allowed renewal of the Club + with the Season Ticket I thought to have this was a very good idea to reward your best Club and County Supporters for their loyalty, these are generally the people that buy lottos, programmes half time draws etc. etc. Should loyalty be rewarded? Are there any other counties that have done this U Turn?

Unless you are confident of your county getting to an All-Ireland, a season ticket is a waste of money and ties you in to being charged whether you can go or not.
I honestly think the GAA need to come up with an alternative here, it doesn't suit a lot of people to go to a league match in February but they might go to every championship match. Should that not be rewarded too?

You are guaranteed games with a season ticket and all too often its people just not bothering in terms of being able to go to all championship games but not all league games.

On a pure financial basis the Season ticket is questionable. 7*15 = €105 + first round of championship probably brings you above the €120 ....just about.

To get an All Ireland ticket you need to actually attend 60% of games (not enough that u paid for them!). As a Galway man the AI final ticket is a draw, although it is more or less impossible for dual supporters because u can't go to both games on the same day unless it is a double header.

€75 would be a fair price. Especially now that the league starts in January and there are some tough conditions to be watching gaa. The purpose of the ticket should be dual, to reward loyal supporters, but also to encourage larger attendances at league games.

There are a number of issues
1. You can't get a club and county for kids
2.You can't get a dual card so if games clash and you can't attend both hurling and football the one day you can't get credit for the other code you also get charged for both games!!!
3. Also they then reduce the admission to league games to €10 if you pre purchase so no saving.

It is system with great potential but is very poorly administered.

i have long long said that at very least, there should be an option to add the "other code" for 20-30 euro.being honest, given my job i get to very very few games.i am always working when a big game in wexford park.
but the wexford football support is tiny, but there are a few dual supporters who would go to football matches but for the unbelievable cumulative cost of it.
having said that, was it last year that we played monaghan in the park at 2,and kilkenny in nowlan park at 7?

re league matches,i know my kids would rather be anywhere other than freezing their ass off in wexford park in february!come the summer, they are keen to go.

personally, even if i was able to,i dont think i would bother with a season ticket.the all ireland ticket is the draw for sure as the galwegian above pointed out.

Think its phenomenal value myself, GAA in general is even without a season ticket. Ive paid 120 euro for soccer tickets and rugby matches for a game never mind anything else.

If im honest id pay 120 euro to watch Dublin play in an individual league game.

As a super Dubs fan do you travel to the hurling?

Renewed the minute I got the email-I find it a fantastic offer.

Someone done a complete breakdown and saved 36 euro. That's good value to me. I know it does not suit a lot of people for family/work related reasons, fair enough, don't buy.

I like the hassle free element, tickets come on a Tuesday, print, great seats, no stress etc.

Some complaining about price, the GAA is a business, they can't throw out tickets for cheap.

The 60% stipulation shouldn't be problem for someone who buys a season ticket. It is for people in a position to go to games. Tyrone have 4 home league games and one in Croke Park that I will certainly be going to. We have Kerry away which I will opt out off(still counts as been attended), so that's 6 out of the 7 I will be "attending." Also if for some reason I can't go I give it to family/friends so they can use it. Not supposed too by feck it, I'm paying 120 so better someone using it.

I agree. They should look into a scheme for dual counties.

Rarely to be honest, other lads on here would be better then me and football would be priority.

Strangely ive been away at other counties inter-county games more as i have had people close to me involved with inter county camogie and mad about the small ball, not the Dublin team mind.

Yes. Its the expense outside the ticket that adds up.

Good idea adding other code. But even then €130 would be enough. That option would swing it for me definitely. The other big seller for me at the moment is the chance we get to AI Final, now that we are reasonable competitive again.

But to look outside my own parish as they say.......surely the idea of a season ticket should be to increase attendances in the weaker counties in particular. Those that would have no chance at the moment of getting to an AI final so that sweetener is irrelevant to them. The GAA seem to have priced in the guarantee of an AI ticket rather than leave it in as a bonus/reward.

i would even accept if there was some sort of add-on,where i got football matches for a fiver,it would also help attendance at christy ring/nicky rackard/etc.
people do not want to keep forking out 20-30 quid for a match.

It is expensive alright, especially seeing as it has increased 60% since the original inception (€120 as opposed to €75 originally). It does have a lot of perks:
- no hassle looking for tickets
- tickets are generally in a good location (in my experience)
- tickets for a number of people (there are 4 on my season ticket) are always sitting together (with the option of bringing friends to most matches and still remain sitting together)
- ticket for the AI final if your team makes it

My ticket saved my money in all the seasons that I've had it. Even if it didn't, I'd still probably renew for the reasons above. The 60% hike does stick in the craw, however.
