Mon07 was probably born in 2007 which leaves him only 11 years old....go easy on the young lad, he may be just a bit excited

Dublin
Kerry
Monaghan
Tyrone
Donegal
Galway
Kildare
And if we needed evidence of this just look at today's results. You can put the teams in whatever order you like but I would say Galway and Kildare will not make it out of our group and Donegal and Roscommon will not go through."
Don't you to be in the last 4 to be put in 3rd on the list? Lol

What was attendance in croker for yesterday's double header?

Donegal gave it a go but Dublin in 3rd gear, super 8s will still have mismatches as Tyrone showed.

Must say not the same bite knowing that teams seasons didn't end and they kinda save ourselves for next day approach, championship is built on the now or never atmosphere and ethos

we are now potentially heading for a dead rubber in ballybofey...regardless of the result in omagh, if roscommon beat donegal, then donegal will already be on the beach when it comes to the tussle in ballybofey making it an easy win for tyrone..

Super 8 my hole, watching Galway/Kerry is like watching the death of Gaelic football, awful game.

A bit underwhelming so far after all the hype but some interesting scenarios still to play out.
Dublin win as expected. Roscommon were very disappointing and hard to see what they have left to play for at this stage. You'd fancy Tyrone to progress with Dublin but the game with Donegal in Ballybofey could be a proper championship match and will most likely be winner take all.
The other group is very unclear. Kerry were very disappointing today but a couple of wins, which is not beyond them, could be just what the doctor ordered for their young team. Monaghan and Galway have gotten a big monkey off their backs this weekend so interesting to see if they can kick on. Monaghan v Kerry next week is a massive game. Regarding Kildare, I don't think they will fear anyone after today's games and I'd still give them an outside chance however slim.
So still all to play for. Maybe this super 8 might take off in earnest next weekend. It should certainly be a lot clearer at least. I wasn't a fan of the format to begin with and haven't seen anything to change my mind. Wonder how many hamstring injuries will be picked up by the time we actually get to the semi finals.

Instead of the super 8 should be named the 8

I watched the world cup final live and ff through the recording of the Galway Kerry game, I made the right choice for once.
Gaelic football is dying, no amount of re arranging the deck chairs will avoid the ice berg, the whole intercounty competition structure needs a rethink, as it is we might as well just give the Sam Maguire to Dublin and tell them to keep it and use Croke park for concerts or bring over some prem lge soccer matches for the Dubs fans to watch.

True

they should have introduced a bonus point system for the super 8s

If you score 4 goals you get a bonus point...which rewards attacking football !

If there was a bonus point system Dublin would not have done what they did last night in the last 10 minutes but they would have went for it in hunt for the bonus point !

its easy fixed would you believe

I am not going to try and defend the standard of football this weekend but we have to give the Super 8s a chance. The bigger problem is who can challenge Dublin?

Some statement laid down by Galway today. I was really impressed by them around midfield especially after Conroy went off (wishing him a speedy recovery). Defensively they are on anther level which is some contrast to the Galway of the last few seasons. Them with Tyrone really laid down the markers over the weekend. Yes the games this weekend failed to light fire though I did enjoy large parts of the Donegal v Dublin game. We could be singing off a different hymn sheet next week with some potentially huge games. The matches in Omagh and especially Clones won't be lacking in intensity I imagine. Big game in the Hyde for Donegal too.

Awful muck. I don't care even if we go on to win Sam this year, I would have to be PAID to attend a Gaelic football game anymore. Watched the entire thing on TV and that felt like a sacrifice considering there was an exciting World Cup final on the other channel.

The Super 8 is just another hack to facilitate the existance of positions within the provincial set-up.

Teams take the league serious these days. 8 teams make up division 1, and we have 7 of these teams in the Super 8. It wasnt possible have 8 as Kildare and Mayo met in the qualifiers.

Why did we have to endure a whole load of nothing over the last number of months to establish what was already known?

After all the hype from the GAA and the media, the supporters voted with their feet over the weekend. Poorly attended both days and little or no atmosphere. The Croke Park experiment has to be abandoned and bring those games to neutral venues around the country. 30,000 crowd yesterday was lost in the place.

A savage goal by Joe.ie's own David Clifford to bring home the bacon! How much did we win - a few grand each?

I have a theory /opinion about the Super 8's and it's this, - - - it's simply another form of the Back Door system under the guise of the super 8's.
3 of the 4 teams that have come through the back door system along with Roscommon could loose a game and still qualify for an all Ireland semi final, the possibility is there that a team can progress despite losing two championship games at least, for the first time.
Call it a round robin, super 8's or whatever in essence all it is, is another form of a Back Door system.
So now we have a Back Door at the start of the championship and a Back Door at the business end of the championship and in between we have the qualifiers, Carlow and Monaghan have beaten Kildare and they are still in there with a chance, although Kildare, Monaghan and Tyrone will be expected to play 6 games in 7 weeks, I simply think they've lost the plot, well and truly.
