Reaching the All-Ireland SFC Super 8’s is a realistic target for Fermanagh, according to defender James McMahon.

Speaking to the Fermanagh Herald, the centre back stressed that they have the players that can trouble any team in the country.

Monaghan provide a tough test in the opening round of the qualifiers, but McMahon feels there is no reason why they can’t reach the last eight of the All-Ireland series.

“You look at Monaghan last year after we beat them,” said McMahon. They went on a run and ended up in an All-Ireland semi-final. If we get that far it would be great, but we really want to get as far as the Super 8’s.

“It would be a great experience, one which would bring us on to build for next year and to push on to Division 1, because that’s where we need to be. We’re not throwing in the towel like that.”
