Slow starts concern Farrell

Dessie Farrell has stressed the need for Dublin to start games better after they were forced to make another second half comeback against Donegal last night.

There was shades of the Monaghan game a fortnight ago when the five-in-a-row All-Ireland champions conceded an early goal, but they eventually recovered to win by a point, with Paul Mannion's 66th minute goal proving to be the decisive score.

"It's great to be showing that type of resolve so late in the game. Plenty of character was demonstrated, though you have to ask why we're putting ourselves in such a position," the Dublin manager said in an interview with RTÉ.

"We had a poor start again tonight and that something we'll definitely be looking at. We will look at it during the week and have a discussion about it. Over the longer term it needs to be addressed."

The Dubs remain unbeaten after four rounds and Farrell felt the performance was an improvement on the draw with Monaghan.

"Collectively, I thought we showed much more intensity. There was a big difference from the last day," he continued.

"We got fresh legs in off the bench and that was important as it was very intense out there. Having fresh bodies coming in at the right time does give you an impetus."
