Injured UCD star Con O'Callaghan before the Sigerson Cup semi-final with DCU

Dublin star Con O’Callaghan will miss the first “two or three rounds” of the upcoming National Football League, according to UCD manager John Divilly.

Divilly was speaking after his side crashed out of the Sigerson Cup tonight at the hands of rivals DCU, with the hosts cruising to a 1-15 to 0-3 victory in the end.

O’Callaghan did not play a minute of the semi-final clash after picking up a shoulder injury during the warm-up of his college’s extra time win over UUJ 10 days ago and, according to Divilly, the Cuala man will not be available for the Dubs in the coming weeks.

“Con unfortunately is out for a while,” Divilly was quoted saying by The42 following his team’s defeat at DCU Sportsground.

“Hopefully he’ll get back in a Dublin jersey soon, everyone wants to see a smashing player like that play.

“He’s a couple of weeks and hopefully he’ll get back after maybe two or three rounds of the league. It’s just the shoulder, a freak thing in a warm-up two weeks ago.”
