Murphy claims Kerry 'sh*t their bags'

Vinnie Murphy has taunted Kerry by suggesting that they bottled it by not putting 14-man Dublin away in the drawn All-Ireland SFC final.

The Kingdom were poised to deny Jim Gavin's men the five-in-a-row when they came from five points down to take the lead with three minutes of normal time remaining, but they couldn't close the deal as Dean Rock's injury-time point earned the strong-finishing Dubs a second bite at the cherry.

Former Dublin footballer and Kerry hurler Murphy told Hill 16 Army's Blue is the Colour podcast: “I’m not being funny, I heard during the week that when Kerry were looking for the management team, and they were bringing fellas in, the first question they were all asked was, ‘How do you stop Dublin and the five-in-a-row?’

“That was the first question. It wasn’t, ‘What are you going to bring? What are you going to do?’ The five-in-a-row was in their head. And I think when Kerry went a point ahead, they s*** their bags.

“They had no scoring chance for the last 10 minutes. Dublin turned the ball over and had six chances.

“I’ll put it another way to you, Kerry got an awful lot of things right, an awful lot of things went their way. They could have, they should have, but didn’t.

“Now you’re talking about probably the most ruthless, efficient team in the history of the game getting a second chance to put an awful lot right.”
