Leinster SHC: last-gasp Moran saves Dubs

May 19, 2019

Dublin's Cian Boland and Lee Chin of Wexford

Sean Moran netted with the last puck to earn Dublin a dramatic 1-22 to 2-19 draw with Wexford at Parnell Park.

Moran’s low 21-metre free bounced past a forest of defenders following a foul on Liam Rushe to give Mattie Kenny's men their first point of the campaign, although it had looked much more promising for the hosts as they led by five points with 15 minutes remaining, 0-20 to 0-15.

A stunning Liam Og McGovern goal followed by a fantastic Rory O'Connor major to the top corner shifted the pendulum in the Model County's favour, with Shaun Murphy and Lee Chin (2) pointing in between, Fergal Whitely replying for the Dubs.

O’Connor’s 63rd-minute goal meant Wexford led by two points going into stoppage time and Chin increased the gap from the left wing, only for Moran to have the last say in the seventh minute of injury time.

Chin raised eleven white flags for the visitors while Paul Ryan was the scorer in chief for Dublin, registering ten times. The sides shared 22 points during the first half and both will feel that they could have won this game … and that they could have lost it.
