Kingdom Camogie Academy resumes on Sunday 3rd November for an interim six-week indoor program sponsored by Herrons Country Fried Chicken. This is part of practice all year round which will focus on the development of technical skills & also incorporate age appropriate lifestyle, diet and nutritional advice for young camogie players. The Academy will assist in the development of underage players with a view to representing the Club at Senior level in later years in line with the Camogie Long Term Player Pathway. Players who complete the six-week program will receive a specially commissioned Herron’s Country Fried Chicken Camogie Academy training jersey. For the coaches of our girls, the need to develop players and recognise the importance of fair play, are key elements of what we do. Playing sport provides each child with increased confidence and allows them to develop a sense of achievement. Becoming part of a team challenges them to work as part of a group and to think of others. Organized team sports are an ideal way to get more exercise, make new friends & increase confidence all at once. Participating in sport helps children develop a range of skills including balance, co-ordination and agility. Children who participate in sport are less likely to be overweight and suffer health problems. Children should be getting at least sixty minutes of physical activity each day. Disguising exercise as games & fun activities can entice kids to get moving. Daily practices, drills & weekly games help keep them active & provide the exercise they need. The schedule for the six weeks on Sunday will be 10am P1 & P2; 11am P3 & P4; 12pm P5 & P6. On Mondays 7pm u12/u14 followed by an optional hour of lifestyle projects. Anyone interested in giving a hand either day should speak to Coaching Officer Rosanne Small.

An Ríocht Annual General Meeting will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday 7th November. All Reports will be available to members from 1st November.

There will be ASIST training at Mourne Matters, the Nautilus Centre on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th November. ASIST stands for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. It is a skill’s building workshop that prepares caregivers to provide suicide first aid interventions. Key elements of the training are to consider personal and societal attitudes to suicide; to enable you to spot the signs that someone may be having thoughts of suicide; to engage them in a safe, appropriate and non-judgmental way; to seek a shared understanding of the reasons for thoughts of suicide and identify reasons for living; to review current risk and develop a joint plan to keep someone safe from suicide; to follow up on all safety commitments, signposting for further help and community resources as needed. If you may be interested or want to know more speak to Jennifer at the club or Sarah Jane at Mourne Matters 07593007713

An Ríocht mass for deceased / bereaved members will take place on Wednesday 13th November.
