Launch - Underage Coaching Plan

Gaeil Fhánada hosted an extremely successful launch of the new underage coaching plan on Saturday evening past in the Rossnakill Community and Resource Centre. Coaching Officer Aidan Mc Ateer outlined the vision behind the plan to the crowd in attendance.

After a successful year in 2018, club officials worked diligently over the winter months in researching, planning and preparing a new underage structure for our club. In setting out on the project, they identified many key areas to focus on, including player development, player retention and coaching development along with the existing focus on child protection.

The coaching committee of Aidan Mc Ateer, Paddy Heraghty and Shaun Mc Elwaine who created this plan are confident that Gaeil Fhánada model will deal with the challenges faced by our club and more importantly, allow us to develop and nurture our underage players in as an effective a way as possible.

The plan covers the entire underage structure, from under 6’s right through to minor boys and girls. It will adopt a more streamlined approach to our coaching, while always putting our underage players and their coaching and developmental needs front and centre.

Special guests on the evening were Donegal Ladies team members, Emer Gallagher and Nicole Mc Laughlin from CLG an Tearmainn who endorsed the work so far, while some of our own underage county players – past and present, were also in attendance, including Lauren Carr and Odhrán Shiels.

It’s an exciting new development for our club as we continually strive to improve and develop as a unit, both on and off the field.

Scór Sinsir

The County Final of Scór Sinsir took place over the weekend in Glenfin. Gaeil Fhánada had competitors in two competitions, Margaret Friel in the Solo Singing Category, while the Quiz team of John Dorrian, Manus Mc Elwaine, Micheál Friel and Michael Mc Elwaine were also taking part.

B’í Mairéad an chéad duine ar an stáitse, leis an amhrán ‘Méilte Chuan Mhaoil Ruaidh’ agus chuir sí an-taispeántas os ár gcomhair. Níor éirigh léi ar an oíche ach thig léi bheith sásta as a cuid oibre i measc iomaíocht ghéar ó Ghleann tSúilí, Seán Mac Cumhaill agus Naomh Adhamhnáin. Bhí an fhoireann Tráth na gCeist i gcomhluadar Naomh Conaill, Naomh Columba, Aodh Ruadh agus Carn Domhnach. D’éirigh leo an bua a fháil - bhí pointe amháin le spáráil acu ag deireadh na hoíche.

All the winners on the evening as follows:

Solo Singing/Amhránaíocht Aonair - Naomh Adhamhnáin

Recitation/Aithriseoireacht - An Clochán Liath

Ballad Group/Grúpa Bailéad - Roibéard Eiméid

Stage Presentation/Léiriú Stáitse - Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn

Instrumental Music/Ceoil Uirlise - An Clochán Liath

Quiz/Tráth na gCeist - Gaeil Fhánada.

The quiz team move forward to the All Ireland final which is due to take place early in April. Comhghairdeas libh!!!
