Letterkenny Gaels club notes

November 07, 2018

The Minor Girls Footballers won a thrilling County Championship Final against 6-in-a-row seeking Moville on Saturday in MacCumhaill Park. On a blustery day they played with the elements in their favour and led by 6-06 to 2-00 at half-time, but Moville showed why they had won the previous 5 titles with a gutsy comeback that fell short as the girls held on to win by 7-09 to 7-04. Claire Doherty (2), Meabh McEniff (2), Laura Crossan, Niamh Walsh and Laoise Ryan got the goals. Well done to players and management. The girls host Bredagh (Down) this Sunday at 2pm in the Ulster club q-final. All support welcome.

The U21 Footballers got off to a slow start in their Championship semi-final against Killybegs in Donegal Town and trailed by 4 points at half-time but a blistering start to the second half set them up to coast home with Niall O’Donnell grabbing both goals in a 2-16 to 1-10 win. The lads will take on N. Conaill or Glenfin in the Final with their game being played this weekend.

The U21 hurlers will take on Burt this Saturday in the Championship at 2pm with venue still to be decided.

The Minor boys’ footballers will host Buncrana this Sunday at 11:30am in their Co, League quarter-final. They have been drawn to play Errigal Ciaran in the Ulster Club quarter-final with date and time tbc.

The Hurling & Camogie Academy is scheduled to get up and running again this Friday, November 9th with full details on social media in the coming days.

The Century Cinemas Sunday Academy is currently on a break, but our School’s League gets up and running this Sunday at 10am on the AstroTurf pitch.

The club has launched our Super House Draw for 2019 with tickets priced at €100 available from members and in various outlets around town and online via the special Facebook page (www.facebook.com/gaahousedraw/) and website (www.gaahousedraw.com). As always, we are relying on the support of our members to make this a success once again.
